Hey guys I need a wireless illuminated keyboard that will have about a 20' range. No numpad is required, I'd prefer a smaller form factor. Not looking to spend a ton.
Any suggestions?

You're not going to find a keyboard that meets all your criteria. Logitech makes a wireless backlit keyboard, but it has a number pad. The Microsoft Sidewinder X6 has a detachable number pad and is backlit, but it's wired.

There aren't tons of wireless bl keyboards. I'm going to order the Logitech K800 soon. It is a full sized keyboard (with numpad) so it might be too big for your tastes. Amazon had it down to 69.99 a few weeks back, it jumped up to $89 or $99 when stock got low, now back to $79...I'm waiting for it to hit $69 again.
Also, i just read some guy on another forum claim a 30' range with this keyboard. -
I got the wired Logitech back-lit and really like it. I recommend you get it from Staples when they have a sale and pile on the coupons/rebates. I picked up mine for $24 or so out the door after a 20% off, $20 easy rebate, and a sale price I think...
-
^wow, that's impressive...were those mailed or emailed to you, or were they available on line?

I think he was suggesting you apply his general approach to the K800. Assuming you can find some nice coupons, the only deficiency this has is the numpad. If you want really compact, there is the Logitech diNovo Mini. That one is pricey though, which is why I didn't suggest it until now.

Normal price was:
79.99 list
- $20 sale price (normal promotion)
- $9 (15% off store purchase coupon for 1 item)
- $10 ($10 off the total purchase of $40 or more coupon)
-----------
40.99
- 20 staples easy rebate
--------
20.99 + tax = ~$24
To the original poster, yeah, I was referring to doing something similar to get a lower price for the wireless one. I had a wireless before (diff model), but got sick of changing batteries and just general drops after using the product for a few years. Hoping this doesn't happen with wired version.
Some people paid even less using more aggressive coupons, but I was happy enough with my price/purchase. -
The Dinovo Mini looks like a grea toption but more than I really want to spend now. I can't believe the lack of options.

The problem is that backlighting eats up energy, so you'll get horrible battery life from any wireless backlit keyboard. As in, replacing or recharging batteries once a day to once a week, depending on how you use it.
My suggestion is to drop the backlight requirement if you want to save money on batteries, or just deal with having a numpad. -
I myself bought K800 yesterday, And woah Logitech makes really good keyboards .. i like k800 so far so much , only problem is it's a bit heavy other than that its a great keyboard
@ - Guys do anyone know, How do i active Media keys i mean play, pause, next, forward buttons ..i am using VLC player but it media keys aren't working -
I got a $50 reward card in the mail from my credit card. I used it to buy the K800. The prices have been going up and down as Amazon keeps running out of stock. I bought one "Used - Like New Condition" from a 100% feedback seller. I'm sure better prices are right around the corner but I couldn't wait any longer.

I have the non-backlit version at my htpc. Built-in mouse works fine at the couch. Charging dock solves battery issues, just slap it in for a night once a week. -
That would be a great solution for the OP if not for the price.
-
). Since it's also all-plastic and low profile, it creaks like a wood shack in a hurricane. IR-activated operation is nice though and the keys aren't too bad.
But I also had the non-backlit versions and I'd say those are better. I only kept the 8000's because the batteries are a hassle to replace (laziness wins). -
What was msrp on that? I see only few for sale through Google and they over $300!
-
I seem to remember it was about that ($300).

I've had the K800 for a few weeks now. I often opt to type directly on my laptop keyboard though. The keys on here feel smaller and a bit crowded together. The K800 is approximately 1/2" narrower (tilda to backspace) and 1/8" shorter (tilda to Ctrl) than my HP 8740w keyboard.
I shouldn't complain too much since I wanted a keyboard that wasn't too wide for my desk drawer yet also had a numpad. But after seeing how little space I have for my mouse despite the small keyboard, I've decided to get a trackball mouse...which means I could had bought something wider. Oh well. -
Good one.
