Ok, so I was planning on buying a nice USB hub for my laptop to hook 3 things up to. (I have a HP HDX16t)

    1. Logitech G19 Keyboard
    2. Logitech G9x Mouse
    3. Logitech G35 Headset

What I was wondering is, will my laptop even have enough power to run all three of these things at the same time, if so, would it in any way be bad for my laptop?

If your hub has a power connector, like a plug, I don't think it would be bad....

But to be safe, you could connect all those peripherals directly to the laptop and then anything else through the USB hub. But no, that should not be a problem at all... USB devices don't usually draw more power than a typical USB connection can give.

Even so, those are all relatively low power draw peripherals. Perhaps the headset would draw the most power, but even still it's nothing heavy.

You might want to get a USB hub that requires its own power source. 3 things that usually draw power from its own USB port, now suddenly getting 1/3 of the power they need... That seems bad for the peripherals.

So no. It won't hurt your computer in any way, other than battery life. However, it will most likely hurt your expensive gaming gear.

But if I get a powered usb hub then it will be fine?

Yep. Powered=good. A powered Hub gives all your USB ports all the power they need.

How can it hurt the "gears" ? Can you please be more specific on that as i can't seem to figure out why it would be bad

Never heard about something getting(or can get) broken when it gets too little power.

I don't see how it could *hurt* anything. It might make those devices unable to connect with all of them there, but if they connect alright you should be OK. I suppose a powered USB hub would be the safest option though.

you might have problem with those. if i remember correctly, logitech require u to plug each one of the peripheral into 1 USB. besides the power requirement, the peripheral you mentioned also use high amount of bandwith. it will cause trouble when there is not enough bandwith.

If your going to be gaming, I would recommend using separate plugs for each, as those 3 things will need to be running as smoothly as possible.

If you do need a USB-hub, get a DECENT hub with it's own power, don't go for the cheapest option. A friend fried his usb connection on his mobo because he hooked 5 devices up through a cheap hub, though i think they were pretty heavy ones, a pro-soundcard, a keyboard (like a music keyboard i mean) a external HDD and two other things...don't ask me how it happened but they all just switched off and when we looked the circuits from the USB on the mobo were completely fried

If it wasn't even a HUB that had it's own power option... then yeah, that was a bad idea to hook all that stuff up.

But even then, USB bandwidth is pretty high for peripherals. Mouse and keyboard do NOT take that much bandwidth, at least compared to what USB can use. Remember the old keyboard and mouse connections?

Anyways, USB HUB's should be used for the smaller things, but if you are connecting sound cards and multiple external hard drives, that could definitely make it choke.
