    Hello all,

My Dell XPS M1530 will be shipped shortly, and I am going to college by the end of this month so I need to get a backpack.

I dont think I'd feel comfortable with a laptop in my bookbag on my back not because of the weight, but because of the protection, etc. I am thinking about getting a regular Jansport Bookbag for my Notebooks, Textbooks, Pens/Pencils/Highlighters/Erasers, Calculator, and other small accessories (stickies, post-its, etc.). That I will take to class. For the laptop, I dont think I'll be taking it to class, probably to the library to study and stuff like that. That is why I think I will also buy a briefcase/messenger like bag for my laptop. What do you guys think? Is it worth getting two bags, or just get 1 backpack?

If I get one backpack, which I would like to, it would need to fit my books, accessories, and my laptop. I dont prefer messenger bags because they will probably make my shoulder/back ache over time. If I get a separate bag for my laptop, do you think I should use messenger or hold it like a briefcase?

Can you recommend any brands that are well-sized, secure and comfortable? I've always used Jansport bags and I like them for regular books and stuff, but Im not sure about computers.

The Swiss Gear Synergy is quite a popular backpack for 15.4 inch notebooks.

that looks great! but it is quite expensive. something like that though would be cool. also my xps m1530 has 9-cell battery.

i think i'm gonna be buying 2 bags: 1 to take to class w/ books, accessories, calculator, etc. and the other one a messenger/briefcase bag for my laptop and laptop accessories for when I go to the library or somewhere to study.

Any ideas for each? I think i'll get a jansport for my class backpack, but can anyone recommend a messenger/briefcase bag that looks like the swissgear synergy but not as expensive?

    thanks!

Consider the Samonsite L45. Or the Kensington Contour series.

What about the Specially-for-Dell SwissGear Austin for the Studio 15/XPS M1530? Anyone have it and is it just like the Synergy?

Regardless of what you get, i'd also reccomend getting a neoprene sleeve just in case you ever need to take your laptop with you to class.

So I should also get a sleeve in addition to the bag I get even though Dell ships it in a sleeve?

I'll be probably getting a Swissgear Synergy but I want to know if anyone has Specially-For-Dell Swissgear Austin?
