Ok, so i have a wireless black controller.
My options are trade it in for a wired, or buy a wireless adaptor.
Questions:
1. If i find some game that actually is PC local co-op, can the wireless adapter use multiple controllers, or is it one adapter per controller?
2. Can i use the controller with any game? (like if i wanted to play vice city, or burnout or any game i so felt like it)
Thanks!

I suggest you buy a wireless adaptor.
1. Yes, I believe you can use multiple controllers for one wireless adapter (up to 4 controllers). Check this thread on Gamespot to clarify.
2. I don't think you can use the controller with all games. I was supposed to buy one before but based on forums I read, most games it supports are the ones with "Games For Windows" on their box labels. However, you may want to research on that, as this may have changed. There could possibly be a program now that syncs and configures with other games (similar to the Logitech Rumblepad). -
It supports up to 4 controllers
As for unsupported games, check out this program Pinnacle Game Profiler -

Well, i guess i could use that, i have a feeling that this would not have the outcome im expecting from it though :/ -
extra $20...
Do you know of anyhting that is free? and is this something you use, or pulled off of google? -
I've used it before, but I never bought it past the demo. Works great.
But I only use my controller for a few games, Lego series, Trine, Prototype atm, all which support xbox 360 controller. The rest I use kb/m.
I know xpadder used to be free, but I think they are charging for it now as well.

I used JoyToKey a few years ago with games I ran under DOSBox. Its interface is crude, but it's free.

for the wireless, the USB receiver draws a lot of current... best to use in a poweresd usb hub, or connected directly to the laptop

I use an XBOX 360 Controller that is wireless with my games. I mainly use it for racing games. GRID, Pure, Fuel, and other new ones support it. I also use it for Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved that I bought on Steam.

does any one know about the new GTA. Burnout, and NFS Undercover? -

GTA IV has controller functions built in (it's coded in xbox360 and ported into PC... those developers didn't even bother changing the pics at the controller settings

GTA4 uses the Xbox360 controller nativity. Like many/most games for windows branded games it has native built in 360 controller support, so everything in the game is preset for the controller including the HUD buttons with the correct 360 controller labeling.

I don't know about Burnout, but I'm pretty sure they work on Undercover, because they work in Prostreet, and Prostreet is older.

I can confirm that undercover and burnout paradise natively support the controller, as does [prototype] and dead space
