Just found out about being able to use a wired Xbox360 controller via USBon a laptop. Very cool! Just need to find the download to do it.

Interesting. Does Microsoft support this? Wonder how many games will actually map to the controller, or does it simply emulate keyboard/mouse functions?

Have it and it's AWSOME. I use it with NFS:Most wanted and The godfather. Makes the game so easy to play with. After you plug in the controller It'll ask if you want to update the driver on the internet click yes and your done!

Very soon they will be releasing a USB adapter so you can use a wireless 360 controller the same way.

Just an FYI. By default, the trigger buttons cancel each other out. That's great...unless you play sports titles and games where you map seperate actions to each trigger. So

All you have to do is plug the controller into your USB port and go to windows update with it plugged in.

At that point you will have an optional update that supports Xbox 360 controllers :)

The controller and Half-Life 2 go very well together on a laptop/PC :D
My brother uses the 360's wired controller more on his laptop than on the actual 360 itself.

When I try the 360 controller download, it gets as far as "run." I press run and then it extracts and disclaimers: Installation was not complete. WTF?

CrackerJack, I dunno if you meant difficulty with downloading from link I gave, but regardless here goes

    1. On this page, you want the very first link, 'Windows XP Xbox 360 Driver' (or the one corresponding with your os)

    2. Install above download as per instructions on guide

    3. Then install this patch, listed at the top of page 'Windows ... drivers', not the source code

    4. Afterwards, you can then use the new 'XBCD' entry in start menu>all programs to config your 360 controller. Now you can download profiles, and point the software to the profile locations
