Your favorite setup with laptop in bed? Your body position, laptop or tablet position/accesories, etc.
Can you post links to picture examples.
I think I will definitely need some sort of laptop cooler and bed table.
Here are some things I am looking for
0. Laptop held for me in place that is comfortable on my neck so I don't have to look too far down from neutral looking position
1. No overheating
2. Enough space over your lap and to move legs sideways with the screen being fully secure. I don't really want to have to explain why I want this.... Its just. ..yeah. I want to get across what I am thinking without having to type it out but think about what I want to do. But if you're male you might have a few ideas.
3. Full back and neck and arm support.
4. Full arm and wrist support, arm and mouse where it is comfortable to use them.

I just lay down, prop my head up with a pillow (or couch's arm, or both), and have the laptop in my lap. If it starts getting hot or the fan starts kicking in, I bend my knees, move my legs closer to me, and form a triangle with the laptop serving as the triangle's longest edge.

Yeah.. I know most people do this.
If anyone else has an interesting or elaborate bed setup please mention it because basically I want to be able to hop into bed and begin to that thing I mentioned without having to worry about heat, neck or eye strain, or not having body parts with full rests on them. -

Starlight5 Yes, I'm a cat. What else is there to say, really?
I hate using laptop in bed... mostly because I never managed to find a comfortable position.
So instead I use IR to control notebook & other tech from the bed and smartphone for whatever, with RDP to notebook when required.
Tried using square kid's table, and a layer of woodlike-material (don't know what's it called properly) put directly on bed as another option, and it certainly is comfortable - for my notebook and mouse, not for meI get tired as hell shortly. Typing this message on my smartphone in bed now, a bit slower but good enough (it does have physical qwerty-keyboard, that's the whole point) and certainly much more comfortable.

I got just the thing to recommend. It also converts into an upright table on demand:
You can buy this updated version at raremonoshop.com (supports several pounds more weight than previous version). -

Btw, I own one of these and can testify that it works exactly as shown. Designed in Japan, but made in China... -
I don't think this thing will support my bricky Alienware M17x R4.. I also don't want the laptop falling on my face when the strap breaks under the absurd weight of it

I presently own a very ergonomic chair. That's as comfortable as I get.
But my goal is a Herman Miller style chair. I don't eat in bed.

I can't say I've ever found any of those super ergonomic chairs very comfortable.

If i'm at home I remote to it via my shield tablet and logitech K480 keyboard and orochi mouse I am good to go.

I like to use something a bit like the small wooden laptop stands that you can pickup from Etsy. Then either get another stand to fill in for a mouse mat, or you can even use something simple like a glossy binder provided it is filled up enough to be level. From there you can either use the wall to prop yourself up, or simply sit up normally and work/play.

I would get a notepal cooler and a sub 3lb notebook. I have both on my stomach with a pillow like this http://www.amazon.com/Brentwood-557-Corduroy-Bedrest-Coffee/dp/B007H3F5EY to give me some vertical support. I use a comfy mouse pad, can watch tv and I have wireless dock. I started doing this because too many hours in my chair was making my back hurt.

I live in a company-provided apartment with a very small desk, so I always use my laptop on my bed. It's the most comfortable, and accessible. I do not own a TV and watch everything on my laptop, which also lends itself nicely to watching in bed. When I use the laptop, I have it positioned on a Targus coolerpad (though I rarely turn the coolerpad on because it is loud) mainly for ergonomics (elevates the laptop), air circulation so it does not smother on the blanket, and stability when typing. I sit crosslegged most of the time and game with my USB-attached PS3 controller.

I keep a Logitech Lapdesk N315 handy for using the laptop on the sofa or something. Pretty neat and simple. The sliding mouse tray is neat too.
-
I have a nightstand with a project linked up to it. Wireless keyboard and mouse attached too, movies ftw!

I have a small tray table that's wide enough for my 17" MacBook Pro that I keep next to my bed. I have a few different computers that I use on there ranging from my Microsoft Surface Pro to my 17" MacBook Pro. The table does just fine and is at the right height for me to watch videos in bed or to sit on the edge of my bed and do a little gaming.

I have a Logitech N200 on it's way. I have been looking for something comfortable to use while on the couch. We'll see if it does the trick.

What r u guys talking about? Like I said, the laptop is literally strapped to the table top (via velcro belt). Table joints are not movable (until you release them via lever) so there is no way the structure could just collapse.
Can accommodate laptops of any thickness b/c bottom hooks/grips are adjustable. The only thing that can potentially dislodge the laptop is to turn the darn thing upside down. Even then, you'd have to hammer on it to loosen the laptop from the bottom rubber grips. -
stop defending that piece of ****, i would never risk using a mid-high end laptop with it, i don't think random operating angeles are any good for these kind of laptops and whats the maximum moment(M=F*h) the central "hinge" can take before it breaks?
yes you can use a light laptop with it but then again you can nail these kinds of machines on your wall if you want to -
Hello I have slowly built up my sitting setup.
I use this chair
With this cooler
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...e=targus_chill_mat-_-9SIA24G2NU2975-_-Product
I have a armrest high box I use to hold my mousepad, it is just a bout 2 inches longer and taller so I can place a drink or my phone on it as well.
I can sit comfortably for hours. It really is easy on my lower back! The cooler is a leftover from my old laptop, it was needed for the extreme heat. Super comfortable. -
Next, there is no random operating angle. Once the hinge locks, you can't move it up nor down...Last edited: Mar 22, 2015 -
But having laptop working practically upside down can't be any good, for example fans or HDD. Granted, I am not a mechanical engineer to know if there are any longterm effects, but for what I know, laptops where designed to operate horizontally or at 60-70 degrees at most. -

On the couch I generally stick to my surface pro 3 on my lap or as a tab or I'll just use my phone. Like so:
I also have a sofa table with a Logitech Alto connected to a gaming keyboard and mouse in case I want to do anything more intensive. Just drop the laptop in place, 1usb and power cable and ready to go.
