Ok well to cut a long story short, i realized they had fixed the Z5500 popping (more like booming) issue whenever someone screwed with the lights/other electrical thing nearby. I asked for a new set and they sent me one, they only requested that i send back the cables from the old set which i have done. But they just cant seem to get it right.... this new set dosent go boom, oh no, it has another problem altogether.

New set (PID R720): Constant BUZZ from the subwoofer, like a small refrigerator, not noticeable during the day but when your trying to sleep it has to be turned off at the back. Ok no biggie.... but it turns out that if you keep using the switch at the back of the sub to turn it off the fuse goes after a week.

Old set (PID R602): None of the above except it goes boom sometimes whenever someone screws with electrical goods. The common problem many have had.

Does anyone else have this annoying BUZZ from their new Z5500's?? A buzz that dosent go away even when the computer is off, you must flip the switch at the back of the sub to stop it. Also what the hell am i gonna do? Ask for a third set? Or pick the lesser of the two evils and live with it?

I used to have a buzzing problem with the sub. My problem stemmed from the connection between the receiver module and the subwoofer -- the twist connectors on the cord would not sit completely tight with the connector on the sub, thus resulting in some interference and a buzzing sound. What I ended up having to do is remove one of the twist connectors completely from the plug. That killed the buzz.

That said you might want to play around with the connector to see if that's the problem. But make sure you have the receiver turned off when you play around with it or the potential popping you will hear will kill your ears (and maybe even the sub).

Did your buzzing stop when the control pod was turned off? Ive read posts on other forums dating back to 2005 with people having buzzing sub issues, these Z5500s i have are the pop free ones and the solution may be different as many of the others said the buzzing or humming as most described it stopped when the control pod was off, mine dosent. Ill mess with the connectors anyways and see what happens.

Oh OK, my buzz stopped completely with the pod off. So playing with the connectors I assume likely wouldn't help. Hopefully it'll work but i f not my apologies :(

The only other suggestion I would have is maybe switching to another outlet or maybe another surge protector. Maybe a lack of "clean" power is causing the buzz

Yeah ive tried that, i even tried a different power cable, one from the old Z5500 set i had, it didnt work, and one from charging a video camera, it blew the fuse in the sub despite having the same 5A fuse in the plug itsself.

Ive emailed logitech for suggestions on how to sort it, asking if maybe i could stick a 3A inside the sub instead of that tiny lil 2A thing. If i get no joy from them i may have to look into a different speaker set which would be a shame as these Z5500s not only look badass they sound it too.
