So what are the real problems with the Zune. Most of the things I find are just about how Microsoft is a peice of ****. What is the player really like? I hate the way ipods look the Zune looks 100x better imo. Don't really give a **** about the nearly non-functioning wireless, wouldn't use it anyway. The only other big complaint is the DRM stuff. What is this all about. I have a few songs downloaded but mostly from cd's does this mean I won't be able to use the stuff from limewire?

MP3 players are a waste in my opinion, by a walkman for 30 bucks buy some cds burn the cds with limewire/bittorent tunes and voila. this is a revelation that came to me about a minute ago.

If the Zune appeals to you, go out and buy one. If you think the Zune looks 100x better than the iPod, I don't see any reason not to get one and enjoy it.

It sounds like most of the things people have complained about don't affect you, so it shouldn't matter.

You won't have any problems with transfering the music you already have (assuming it's in MP3 format or something else the Zune supports).

Yes, you'll be able to use your pirated music from limewire without any problems.

I wouldn't get a Zune, I'd get a Zen Vision: W before the Zune, but I'd go with an Archos or Cowon A2 before I'd get the Vision W.

I didn't really like the Zune's software. I thought it was like a complicated version of iTunes. Itunes is easy and simple.

biggest downside of the zune is its capacity compared to price. microsoft is entering a highly competitive market with the Ipod, Zen, Archos and several other mp3 players already in the market. they shouldve priced it more aggressively, like under $200 for 30GB. They also do not offer a larger capacity which many others do. The larger capacity players although more expensive, are still better value per GB than the 30GB versions. The Zune's screen is nice but not such a big deal IMO. it's not a crap player but they didnt really make a unique product, they just tweaked existing products a bit to make their own.

the creative zen 60GB is just $30-50 more, the ipod 80GB is about $100 more. for twice or nearly thrice the capacity for less than double the price is pretty enticing.

who knows maybe the new Zunes will be better and more competitive, but the current versions just dont cut it

I think they already lowered the Zune price as much as they could anyway. Remember, they were caught by surprise actually when Apple lowered the price of the 30GB iPod to $250. They had originally planned on the Zune selling for $299, the same as the 30GB iPod at the time. But once Apple lowered their price prior to the Zune launch, they had to follow suit.

I do agree with you though; I think at a bare minimum MS needed to be more aggressive on the Zune price, to make it easier for people who were deciding between a Zune or an iPod specifically to choose the Zune.

Yes I'm also talking about current prices. The Zen 30GB, ipod 30GB and Zune are about the same price, but for example lately we see the Zen being offered with a $30-50 rebate, quite enticing. So yeah, they need better pricing. There's just so much going for the Ipod, popularity, tonnes of accessories and it is slimmer than both the zen and zune. A large company like Microsoft could afford a hit to profits for a while to promote the Zune but I guess they just didnt see a short term or long term benefit to aggressive pricing.

What are the chances a big price drop or the "Zune 2.0" coming out within the next 6 months?

There's already a lot of rumors of MS making some announcements relating to a "Zune 2.0" (or at least something having to do with the Zune) pretty soon....... I think it is almost a given that MS will be getting new Zune products out within the next 6 months..... at the very least a flash-based Zune.
