I am thinking about buying one in the next day or so...

Question 1: Walmart has it for 228.54 Does anyone know of a place that has it cheaper?

Question 2: Does anyone know if it will go on sale on black friday?

Question 3: Some of my music is 320kb, is it possible to have it automatically downgrade everything to a max of 192kb to save space with the zune software like it is with windows media player?

    Thanks!

    2. I do not expect the price to go down significantly on Black Friday. But you never know....it will be a good idea to check one or more of those Black Friday deal websites.

I looked through the ads i could find, but didnt see anything. I think im going to have to jump on their deal, maybe price match it at best buy because i have some gift cards there.

On a side note, i just installed the 64bit version of the zune software at a whopping 300mbs! the x86 was only 30 mbs...i wonder why the difference? anyone know?

Edit i found the answer to my conversion of quality question, and the answer is yes it can!

I just got my 80GB Zune last Friday from Amazon ($199). I love it. Audio quality is a notch better than my 160GB iPod Classic and the Zune software is much faster than iTunes in regards to my music library. A set of Shure SE530's are on my xmas list this year to go along with it. ;)

Have fun with yours once you get it.

Y'know, if you can still find an 80GB model instead they include the premium earphones which are actually very good. Otherwise you can buy them separately for around $40.

Awesome! I only have gotten to load a few thousand songs on it so far but i really like it. The interface is really great and the screen is nice and big, yet it is a thin player! I think its easier to use than an ipod.

I just wish Microsoft would grow a brain and allow asian character support. It's a simple matter of getting the ttf files onto the hard drive so it can display them...

While I love my Zune, I haven't upgraded from the 1st gen, and I won't until they start supporting me and my music. Since my one and only zune purchase(the fugly "American consumers have no taste" halo 3 special edition Zune. The NEX didn't have any normal Zunes.), I've bought 2 ipods(a nano and a classic), and 5 sony mp3 players(2 music/video players, 2 stick types mp3 players, and a minidisc unit). The ipods really aren't anything special, though they have a)larger screens b)better software c)the touch wheel over my Sony players. Sonic stage does suck very much. On the other side, Sony players charge faster, come with really nice earphones(in one case, even active noise cancelling earphones), and have top notch audio quality. It is often difficult to get the really good Sony stuff outside of Japan though.

<sigh> I really want to use my Zune, it's just not an option when it requires so much effort to use with asian music. Obviously they care very little for their customers, as my complaint is neither uncommon nor unreasonable.

You only pay sales tax on Amazon in a few states:
    Source: http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=468512

So, Walmart + Sales Tax > Amazon + ZERO sales tax.

I am aware, however, that you may live in one of those states where Amazon charges sales tax. In that case, the price is virtually the same. Keep in mind that Amazon changes its prices often (I don't remember what it was when I posted that), so it may go up or down.
