Well, one of the major selling points to me was the supposed extreme battery life. The Zune reps were saying it's battery life would be unmatched and Nvidia was touting two-weeks of music playback with their Tegra chip back at it's release. I just checked the Zune site and it turns out it only gets 24 hours of music playback. I then checked the Apple site, the iTouch gets 36 hours, a full 50% more.

    ...

Doesn't make sense. It's a smaller screen, an OLED one at that, and supposedly a much more efficient chip.

This dampens my enthusiasm for the Zune. I am running a 1st gen Nano and at this point I am getting 2-3 hours of battery life so I am sick and tired of charging anything. I was expecting the Zune to have something around 48 hours or something.

I hope that stat is wrong, man.

Yeah it should be better esp the OLED screen will help, that kinda sounds incorrect.

Where on earth did you read 24hours??? Those are the specs listed on Amazon: 48 hours standard definition video, or 10 hours high definition video

    Music should be even higher.

If you want good battery life then get a Cowon, the S9, D2, and I7 all have very good battery lifes.

24 hours is incorrect. The official specs sheet for the Zune HD says that music playback (wireless off) is 33 hours, while video playback is 8.5 hours.

In any case, though, it's impossible to tell what it actually is without testing it out. Apple seriously inflates the battery life of its products. My iPod Nano gets nowhere close to the battery life that it supposedly has.

He's talking about battery life, not capacity ;)

I think you may have misread the specs on amazon.com. Those numbers are referring to the capacity of the 32GB storage, not the battery life.

    From Engadget:
Update: Microsoft has hit us with the corrected & updated spec list with a slight change to battery and charge specs: 33 hours of life playing music with no wireless, up to 8.5 hours of video. 3 hours to charge from PC, 2 hours via AC adapter

Where on Earth? The Zune website.

I actually read it there before Engadget posted. But you can read it here and make sure you notice how they crossed out the 24-hour rating that was originally listed. Microsoft updated the rating later.
