Hi im currently using the new Alienware M15x it comes with 2 USB port and 1 E Sata, however the other 2 usb ports are insufficient for me. I need someone to recommend me a good USB Hub. I bought a few USB Hubs but they are extremely crappy. sometimes the system does not detect them at all.

Perhaps get one from one of the better known brands of accessory manufacturers. I've just got this Targus hub which works fine for me. It's well built and also comes with PSU in case external power is needed. I don't know why it is being sold off cheap.

Seconded. I've got one like this that I keep in my laptop bag. It's great. Targus is a good brand.

I highly recommend this one. It's a multi TT hub and works great. I've used it with my PS3 and laptop and will be grabbing another one soon.

And the review with the multi-tt info:

    This is a Multi-TT Hub
This a LinXcel Multi-TT hub based on the Genesys Logics GL852 chip. If you Google UH-217C-US you will find the same hub from other vendors (and a better description of the features). Of course, Monoprice has the best price.

I was looking for a Multi-TT hub, and this is the only model I could find. Toms Hardware has an article explaining the advantages of Multi-TT vs. Single TT

Effectively anything that doesn't fall apart when you touch it would do...

The only choice you need to make is powered vs unpowered - powered ones have an additional power supply and will be required if you want to run multiple devices like USB HDDs from one, or charge multiple devices like MP3 players or mobiles.

For a Mouse and a flash drive you should be OK with an unpowered one.

The thing is, its expensive - when I needed a hub quickly in Germany I had a choice... 20€ Logitech or 10 or 12€ some "no name" or similar product - the cheaper one did the trick over the holidays - still works - only has an annoying LED - took it apart, I can't disconnect it - or wont.

Now the Logitech one would look better - but it wouldn't be working at better in any way.

And that's the thing - unless you need a 7 ports or more hub - get the cheapest you can find.
(Unless it should fit the furniture...)

I was in a similar situation so i had to buy one too. Monorprice has an amazing one that i currently use myself and it is rather inexpensive. It has 7 POWERED ports, and it has its own ac adapter that is tiny to you dont have to worry about bulk. I have no issues charging my phone, connecting my usb mouse and keyboard, and ipod, etc. it detects them fast too so i have no complaints other than the color, but it doesnt bother me too much.

read its reviews on the page. this hub speaks for itself.

    Hope this helps!!!

Using theses as well, the perk is that it comes with power adapter, so the additional USB won't draw on the laptop power, which sometimes is not enough, making it function as some sort of docking station, which is cheap for a docking station.
