I have a compaq, m2401xt, and it tipped over with the ac adaptor in it and the adaptor tip bent. For the next few days, the ac adaptor worked fine. Suddenly, it stopped working, so I bought a new tip and that didn't work either. I jiggled the tip in the adaptor input socket, and got the light on the notebook to turn on, but not for long. I am guessing i bent the works inside the socket on the notebook.
Can anyone help me with a solution to this problem so I don't have to junk the computer? Can it be fixed? I would love to find an external battery charger, but any workable solution would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mark

If you have the tools and skills to desolder the old part and resolder the one part, you can buy a new jack for $10 or so shipped.
If you don't want to solder, I have a crash part you can buy.
Either way, you will have to disassemble the computer extensively. -
what do you mean by a "crash part?"
