Just bought a new dell inspiron 1520 which came with a 90W adapter. My old dell used a 65W. Reading around I've gathered that I'm OK to use the adapters in either machines but the perfomance of the new one might not be as good.
What are peoples opinions on this? would it actually affect the performance of the CPU? what if the laptop was already mainly charged?
Cheers.

I would say no. Even though the wattage is lower, is the voltage/amperage the same or lower? You do not want to burn out components.

hmmmm, maybe I should read up a little more on this!
Anyone else had experience of it / can add any advice? -
Look at both power adapters. See what the output voltage/amperage is.
There is a reason why each computer has a specific power brick. -
The 90w brick included with the 1520 is not to be used on any notebook that includes a 65w brick. Using the 65w brick on the 1520 will simply charge the battery at a lower rate.
