Your not going to get surround sound from a 2.1 but these are decent:

*Maximium Burst Power indicates the actual power this amplifier will deliver to the speakers under normal operating conditions. While the FTC power rating indicates power available on a continuous, long-term basis, multi-channel systems do not rely on that type of power. Instead, the amplifier is called upon to deliver large, short-term bursts of power to be able to support today’s digital music, games and movie formats. In addition to the required FTC power rating, we have provided the maximum burst output as a better indication of the product’s true performance.

I know you said 2.1, but I Love my Logitech 5.1. They're a set of These, sorta, mine and older (logically worse).

They're fabulous is you are thinking about 5.1...

to add to what Nizzy1115 said... and by the way ... what he's recommended is an awesome set!!
    Here's what I'm recommending -
    Klipsch iFi Homepage

    Product Details - Klipsch iFi

    basic details
    200W rms
    3.5-inch aluminum woofer
0.75-inch titanium dome compression driver with MicroTractrix Horn
    8-inch subwoofer
    crossover freq - 120Hz
    freq. response 27Hz - 20KHz
    weight of package - 43lbs (yes .. it's a gorilla!!!)

If you're lucky, you still might get your hand on one of these ... I've bought them 2 days back after extensively demoing Bose Companion III 2.1's, Klipsh Promedia 2.1, Klipsch GMX 2.1, Logitech z2300, Logitech z4, Altec Lansing 6401's... & a pair of absolutely great sounding B&W's

A lot of online reviews are greatly praising Swan M10's and Audioengine A2's as well.

    ------
Ahmmm, one thing that you might want to specify is what sort of music u listen to, are you a bass junkie? Is clarity of sound very important? Do you listen to low rip mp3's? What is your price bracket?

    ^ what he said.

    go to tigerdirect.com

last time I checked u could get them for $102 dollars (1.99 shipping when you're over $100). Then enjoy the amazing sound. Check newegg.com for reviews on them if you're skeptical.

    Klipsch > Logitech for music

The Ifi is better than the ProMedia 2.1. However the ProMedias are a good amount cheaper.

Even better would be the Swan M10. Great for music, but it only has a woofer. Not a subwoofer.

i agree GO WITH KLIPSCHE for speakers. Let logitech make mice. klipsche makes audio equipment.

didn't u hear us? GET KLIPSCHE. the logitech z-2300 has no mid end. just boomy inaccurate bass and squeaky highs.

    i also suggest the M-Audio LX4's

i've heard the klipsch is better for music, but I've also heard that the promedia has a subwoofer issue, which may make it unreliable. The logitech has great sound and this about them having no mids is a complete lie. Learn how to adjust your sound luissss. Samething with the bass. Yes, it can get boomy if you have it turned up too high, but all of that can be adjusted if needed by fiddling with the volume/bass controller and EQ on your computer. When you have the settings you like, you have an amazing sound system for only $100 (I'm sure this is cheaper than klipsch). Watching movies/gaming on this thing is magical because it gets very loud (louder than klipsch) and crystal clear (I don't even have a notebook sound card). Your purchase will not disappoint with either one you get. It really depends on how much u want to spend and what you're looking for.

Why do people always equate loudness with quality anyway? :p

Anyway, as others have mentioned, both the z2300 and the promedia 2.1 are amazing and you probably can't go wrong with either.

Whatever happened to the Klipsch ifi anyway? For speakers that received rave reviews, it's almost impossible to buy new these days from mainstream sellers...

I own the Swan M10s and LOVE them, however as stated they do not have the room thumping subwoofer bass that is usually associated with a 2.1 system. They KILL anything else out there for music quality though, and are beautiful and classy. The M12's are on sale and I believe they have more thump because they are designed for more gaming/multimedia use (designed to be easily connected with Xbox/PS3). Check out "the audio insider" for info.

I have these and I highly recommend them too. They may not be "the best" 2.1 speakers, but they do have great sound especially for the price.

I had a set of Altec Lansing 2.1 before, it wasnt that great to be honest. They might have improved since..

But right now i know Altec Lansing makes good portable/notebook speakers.

Klipsch promedia sub is pretty bumpin' ..enough to shake the walls and your desk.

I have a promedia 4.1 and logitech Z-5500 It's easier to adjust the bass up and have it hit harder on the klipsch, but the z-5500 woofer is HUGE and makes a good foot rest.

Klipsch promedia is getting kind of old, but I'm pretty sure it's still one of the best out there. The 2.1 system is good.
