Okay, okay, I know it's been discussed to death, but after examining the benchmarks here I've decided that really the only options for me were the Razer Diamondback or the Logitech MX518. I've (briefly) felt both of them so I don't think the ergonomics will really be a problem and they're both similarly priced. My only question is, if I go with either of these mice do you think that I'll ever really miss the higher/changeable DPI found on laser mice? Those benchmarks seem to suggest that the laser sensors don't have nearly the reliability of older optical gaming mice, so if the extra DPI options aren't too terribly necessary, I won't feel bad about getting an older mouse. Any thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Simple performance wise, there is little to no difference between laser and optical. Depends what kind of games you play. If it's FPS with a lot of sniping, I guess higher the dpi teh better.

    i use the mx518 and it's awesome.

i dont have any experience with the other mouse the OP mentioned, but i can't say one bad thing about the 518. very precise, nice tactile feed to the buttons and plenty of them
