I am debating purchasing one of these. I love the feel of typing on the old school mechanical switches. This keyboard looks really nice on paper. All 18k gold mechanical switches 1000hz polling 2 usb ports mic and headphone ports all metal internal construction supposed to be very heavy. Lifetime of 50 million keystrokes per key, and a crazy advanced anti ghosting system you can press every single key on the keyboard at once and it will register then all, best anti ghosting in the industry.

Does anyone own one of these or have hands on experience with it?

anti-ghosting doesn't work if you use the USB adapter, only P/S2 port works.

IMO it's mostly gimmicks, I would get a filco majestouch keyboard for no frills mechanical keyboard at a lower price.

i see that keyboard at a price of 134 not really much cheaper. The red Esc key looks kinda ugly imo too. It also doesnt have media functions. Plus I own a steelseries Ikari mouse that I am in love with so I trust that company to make a quality product. Also I dont see anything about 1000hz polling on the filco.

Well but G7 is not a full mechanical keyboard (or at least not a quality one) unlike the filco if you would read some reviews. The 1000hz polling is quite gimmicky, when was the last time you feel that your normal keyboard was ever lagging.

It's not that I don't like Steelseries, I'm using their Siberia headset and liking it as well, but in terms of keyboard, IMO almost if not all keyboards advertised for gaming are more or less gimmicky.

People don't buy mechanical keyboards for media keys. Honestly.

    Exactly.

The G7 does use Cherry MX Black switches. Though the Filcos are well known for their build quality.

I just bought a cheaper iOne Scorpius M10 as a starter mechanical keyboard. Shame Filco don't do keyboards with Cherry MX blue switches right now. :-/ I am waiting for the UPS man to deliver my keyboard (supposed to be today).
