hi. i have a canon printer (mp530) and something perplexes me.
i only print in black and white.. yet all my color cartridges go down. why is this? i have yellow, magenta, and blue i think.
-
because the cartridge utility uses a simple system to determine how much ink is in your cartridges and cant determine colours from black
-
Hi, i have an MP460---does it take different cardridges for each color?
-
Most of inkjet printers perform nozzle cleaning whenever you turn them on, which consume quite a bit of inks. Yes, it is annoying, and it smells of conspiracy, meh.
-
Yes, to my best knowledge this is true, and you lose even more if you have seperate cardridges, as i said before.
-
no offense to canon but that's really rediculous. i can't use the printer (won't work) without having all the ink cartridges (with ink) in. it won't let me. this is the forth set of ink i went through in the past year. i haven't printed anything in color yet!
-
You can print with only black ink if you select "black and white" in printer property. But yes, its very annoying. My color ink finally went out without much of color printing, as well. On the other hand, my parent don't use their printer often, but they do much more color printing, and their ink seem to last like forever. I think my next printer will be B&W laser.
But right now, I am using my mp500 as B&W printer, with (thankfully) cheap black ink, even though 2 of my color cartridges have been empty for a while. -
i would suspect that your printer is using all three color colors combined to create black?
-
I have a i560 or something like that. Usually, don't print in color, but have to change color ink once 1 or 2 months. Canons suck because of this get another brand.
-
i use the newer style hp office jet system. this uses 3 color and i black cartridge you are supposed to be able to print 2800 color and 1500-1800 color pages and to be honest i believe it. i have printed HUNDREDS of black documents and made numerous copies and i still have more than half the catridge left. the only ONE downfall to this printer is the color ink is not waterproof. so if you print a picture with it which imo come out very very nice for what this printer is designed for overall.... and get it wet later the ink will smear. other than that we LOVE LOVE LOVE this printer. and its crazy fast when printing honestly its as fast as my black laser printer at my office seriously its really that fast
-
I heard this before. Has anyone confirmed that this actually happens?
BTW, if you only print in black, a laser might be a better choice for you.
anyone have a CANON printer?
