bought a g7 mouse which i like (hardware wise) but I noticed setpoint even with uberoptions installed is a POS. for some reason I cant program the left or right mouse tilt keys in any games, and when it does work it doesnt last long before not working again. Everything I program into these keys works fine in windows (internet explorer, word documents, etc), but just not recognized in games and I am about to return this thing cause the software sux.
anyone know how in gods name to program the keys and make it STICK the whole time so it actually works? Atleast with microsoft their programming software for the buttons works great, and stays that way, but with setpoint it doesnt do what its supposed to.

Unfortunately it's been a POS for a long time. I remember not being able to access anything because Logitech made a small goof in their software and they didn't fix it for almost a year.
I recently bought a G9 (G7 user for almost 3 years), and thought that the latest Setpoint software to be rather user-friendly and stable. I thought wrong. I decided to play some online games (CS:S for example) and every 5-6min I would get a 5-8 second lag. Not your typical high ping lag, but like you cannot move your player and the screen freezes lag. I thought my desktop was overheating but soon realized that I had just installed the SetPoint software.
So I uninstalled it, ran a registry cleaner, and no more problems.
Logitech makes great products, but lack programming skills. :/ -

ooh just installed yesterday,
no problems so far
will keep my eyes open
using g5 -
looked into a razer copperhead... i am probably going to get whacked with a 15 percent restocking fee at newegg, but i am leaning towards returning this.... setpoint is so damned frustrating to use on a otherwise great mouse.
hopefully the program on the razer mices arent as bad? -
i have also a basic razer krait, no much programing there but no issues at all.

I didn't like how the G9 setpoint wanted to reassociate my mouse when I wanted to change the key configs when plugged into a different computer.
Also had a stupid issue with being unable to change profiles with setpoint running. Closing setpoint fixed that.
Beyond that, I'm fine with the setpoint software. I don't enable G9 setpoint on startup anymore because all the key strokes are stored on-board, but for my other mice, setpoint is working ok. -

If you use SetPoint... then you simply **have to** install uberOptions as well!!

i installed uberoptions, doesnt solve my problem of not being able to program the tilt buttons and use it in games, it only works in internet explorer and desktop.
the whole point of me buying this monstrosity was to be able to program the tilt and side buttons for gaming, its not even recognized.
needless to say i dont know what to buy now.... my old intellimouse optical 1.1 has no problem programming the keys, i dont understand why in hell its a such a ***** to program using setpoint for the g7. i thought of buying a razer copperhead but some people reported electrical shorting and the same problem of not being able to recognize the button programing in games...
all i want is a simple to program 2000+ dpi gaming mouse thats not ridden with flaws.. its ironic i have the money but i cant find a product with no problems. -

I've been using setpoint with my G9 since last December and I've never had any major issues. I know setpoint used to be a worthless POS, but I think Logitech has done a good job of fixing it.

I don't have one but I have heard good reviews.

crimson do you use ur setpoint for gaming or just desktop use? how did u get the games to recognize the side buttons?

As for getting games to recognize the side buttons: I just go open the game, go to the "control settings" menu, and go from there. You seem pretty smart. I'm sure you know how it works...
From the game setting menu; You just select the function you want to reassign, click "change" and then click whatever key you want to be assigned to that function. Even if that key happens to be the thumb buttons on your mouse. -

I have used setpoint with my MX518 for over 2 years, and with my G7 for over a year now with no problems. I cant really not use it as I use it to remap my buttons to do things I want in windows, and to set my DPI on the fly settings.
anyone here using logitech setpoint?
