    Hi everyone,
my hp pavilion dv6 hdd had increasing amount of bad sectors.
I continuously backup but failure is coming what so ever.

warranty is out of question, because hdd. still working and hp hdd. checkup determine hdd. health OK.

I didn't find any 1 tb. internal hdd. where I live. I only found external 1 tb. hdd., I know that WD one can't be used as the interface is soldered to hdd., but I found seagate. can I use these to rip off hdd? any other suggestions?

    thanks

    keep dreaming...

with the flooding, it will be at least another year before 2.5in 9.5mm 1tb drives are under $80. I don't think you can get a 750gb for that price yet...

My hp dv6 hdd. have bad sectors problem.
the problem started few days after purchasing the laptop, and the bad sectors keep increasing in 8-18 sectors increment every 1-2 weeks.
but today jumped from 288 to 328 bad sectors. and reallocated sectors count decreased from 99 to 98.
Nevertheless, Hp hdd health check says its O.K.

as you can see from my post, I'm willing to replace this hdd. as soon as I find a replacement and keeping backups just in case.

other than that, the laptop performs normally without any problem.

my inquiry is How many bad sectors is acceptable in a hard drive?
I know everybody says zero but modern hdd. have spare sectors which are used to replace bad ones.
