Just picked up a Blackberry 9700 which has bluetooth and am looking at purchasing a bluetooth dongle for my Studio 15 laptop. I know nothing about the different brands and how good they are. What do you recommend, I'm looking to spend under $50 Canadian.

The Studio 15 series, including the 1537, can use internal Bluetooth, which I recommend over a USB Bluetooth dongle. The particular card you're looking for is the Dell 370 Bluetooth mini-PCIe card, which can be found all over eBay for around $20 US. Or, if you're feeling thus inclined, you can buy one of my own spares for $15 US. ^_^

The 1537 already has the antenna cable inside, even if you don't already have the card installed. It's a very simple process; you just have to remove the bottom panel of the laptop, slide the card into its slot, screw it in place, and connect the blue antenna cable. Then, in Windows, download and install the driver.

Thanks for the information. I have a gift certificate I want to use, can you buy that type of card in a Future Shop or Best Buy? Bluetooth would only be used for transferring files to the phone, I wouldn't be using headphones or anything else with it.

Unfortunately, no, physical stores don't tend to have those sort of internal laptop components.

pretty much all bluetooth dongles are going to be about the same. The cheaper the better. I picked one up at Fry's.

Btw, where did you get yours from? I checked them out on Dell's site and read the reviews, every comment mentions Dell ships the cards with the wrong size of screws and have done so for months despite complaints.

I got mine from an eBay power seller. If yours comes with a wrong screw, by any chance, let me know, and I'll mail you one of mine. ;)
