Yes you can. It depends on which drivers are installed. The microsoft one will not support it. If you have a built in bluetooth from dell then it probably has toshiba installed which will work. You can check control panel> system> hardware tab> device manager. Look for bluetooth.

I had bought my 6000 with bluetooth and I use the Scala headset on a regular basis, with no problems.

I'm going to move this to accessories. This really isn't a Dell question and you will get better help there.

i use a usb dongle, but u can find a pcmcia that would not stick soooo out - blueSoleil BT software come bundled with the usb dongle works real well with all BT devices out there

    cheers ...

I'm also looking for a good bluetooth headset. I'd like one that is a slim, low-profile type, stereo, with a thin nearly-transparent boom mic like you see nowadays used with sound and PA equipment.

In the stereo headsets, I'll I'm finding is ones with big headphones like the ones from Blue Ant and Plantronics (see Amazon.com for pictures).

And, an FYI, if you want something low-profile for an external bluetooth adapter, go with the Zoom PCMCIA card. From newegg here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16833203014

I just got mine in today, and it's very low profile. Can hardly tell it's not internal.

unless ur machine is pre-delivered with possibility to support BT (meaning activation button available) - then u can just forget the mini-pci option

u can use any BT headset to ur desire, but an adapter is to be needed (audio in/out 3.5mm to 2.5mm stereo)

    cheers ...

what do you mean? I have a mini pci slot and while customizing my machine I had an option for built in BT.
    what is this activation button?

I think by "activation button" he meant that you needed to have the option when configuring your notebook. Sounds like you did.

What's this about needing bluetooth AND the stereo jacks? If I connect a headset via the stereo jacks there's no reason to use bluetooth.
