I remember I could plug my portable DVD player in to the socket on a plane but I am guessing a laptop needs more volts and wont be able to game etc while flying ?

    thanks !

Most plug-ins will be able to accommodate consumer laptops (IE. a Dell 1525 - Yes, Sager 9x series OC'ed to 4ghz, probably not). Someone will more than likely post with a v/w/a specific detail, but the above is a general rule of thumb.

Use the SeatGuru.com site or similar to see what planes have power plugs. You will have to first know the plan you are flying by checking your ticket number on the airline site. You can always call the airlines and ask, but be prepared to wait.

Provision for powering computers varies between and within airlines.

You need to find out which airline and what plane. Then you may find details on the airline's website of what power sockets are where. After the incidents with exploding batteries many airlines will let people use computers but no charge the battery.
