I've noticed that most netbooks don't come with cd rom drives.

Rather than buying one, is it possible to get a usb adaptor that connects between a netbook (without a CD/DVD drive) and a laptop (with a CD/DVD drive)? This is as I would like to install software etc.

Just wondering how would this work exactly. Let's say I wanted to install Word, Excel etc. from a Microsoft disk.

If I put the disk into my main laptop, surely it would run on it first through autorun on the main laptop, rather than recognising the secondary netbook?

You could always copy the content of the CD to the HD on the computer that has a CD-reader. And share the map/content onto the network so you could access it easily with the other computer through the network.
