I am looking to buy a new LCD monitor, and have been shopping for the biggest screen I can get for a good price. Anyone know any good deals?
This is one of the best ones I've found so far if anyone else is on a similar quest:

It's only a 19" though, and I'm trying to see if I can get something bigger at a good price.
I think this deal is also pretty good for a 24" though I don't know about acer's quality:

I'd be carefull with TD rebates. Do you have a budget? I picked up my 20" Dell 2001FP for like $350 a while ago.

I don't think you will beat that price if the rebates come through - not for a while anyway. Wish I could convince myself that I needed one.

I'm not really on a budget since I figure this will be a one time purchase that should last me a good 5 years assuming nothing goes wrong, but I think 1000 dollars is a good sized limit. I'm also not sure what a good size is since I've been using my laptops 14.1" (1400 x 1050) screen for a while I just thought it would be a good time to get a bigger better display.

1k is alot for a monitor nowadays. You can easily get a 24in with that much. I am planning on buying a 20in Dell 2007FP which is more than big enough for my college needs. I would look around online for reviews of LCDs you are interested in. I wont suggest getting the cheapest since some may have dead pixels etc. Dell ones are usually good value.

As for lasting 5 years I am not sure which brand of LCDs is that reliable. My parents bought me an Eizo Flexscan L66 6 years ago (cost like $3500, LCDs are much cheaper now) since I use my computer alot and LCD is softer on the eyes. The image is dimmer but the sharpness is the same. Iv seen my friend's much newer Dell monitor develop some big problems like a huge stripe of dead pixels etc. I would do some research on that. Do keep the price of LCDs now in mind though, a good display can be had for $400 or less...so last that long may not be such an issue.

You might as well get the 24" if you are going to spend that much.

well i got a 19" 4:3 ratio with like 650 contrast and 12ms respons from tirgerdirect for $200 about 6 months ago. it was 300 with a 100 mail in rebait and i got my money from the rebait, although it took a while. the monitor was a genx2 or something like(never heard of them before) that and for that price i have been suprised by the quality and build. its slim and looks great screen wise, it was actually to bright when i first got it and had to tone it down a little.

the way i look at it is, do you think that if you buy a dell monitor that you are getting a monitor that dell made, NO. you are getting a monitor that is using some genaric parts and has a case with a dell badge on it. i found the cheapest monitor at the time that had good specs and if it craps out after a year or 2, oh well it was cheap and ill find another one that is better.

Go for the Dell 2405FPW. 24", 1920x1200 resolution, gets great reviews. If you wait for a decent coupon you can get one for less than $700.
