is it okay to use yellow microfiber towls to wipe away the dust off the screen or will it scratch?

Try 'search'. Hundreds of posts with hundreds of opinions. Personally, I use microfiber and water.
-
And don't use Windex, ever.
-
I've used windex, I wouldn't advise it though. I only used it on my gloss screen, because its covered with a piece of glass, and I didn't spray it onto the screen.
-
i just use a damp kleenex. could someone explain to me why lint free is a good thing? I dont know what lint is.
-
Lint is pretty much like dust. It is usually left over from towels, but kleenex have them too.
I usually just use one of my old 100% cotton t-shirts and cut them up. with water. -
I stick it out with free microfiber cloths for all my cleaning needs
(I even use isopropanol with my microfiber on my mouse pad, as recommended by its manufacturer)

Monster Screen Cleaner
Includes microfiber cloth and spray, I love it. -

Windex works fine on my Dell Inspiron 5100. -
theres something with windex where people spray it onto the screen and it seeps into the bottom or sumthin and messes everything up..i think
-
The Amonia in Windex can and will etch some plastics. Monster Screen Cleaner, according to its MSDS, is mostly water and overpriced like most Monster stuff. I'd stick to plain water and a good soft cloth. I mean really $14.99 for what looks like 4 ounces of this stuff???

What you can do, just go to Costco or Sams Club, and buy a cleaning solution. They're called "See-Clear" or Lens cleaner, and they look like moist towlets, except they are used for cleaning computers, glasses, camera lens, and similar items. Except for contact lenses, that's a big no no.

Use a microfiber cloth (and a bit of water if you have something other than dust).
Iād personally stay away from any chemicals, unless they specifically meant for LCD monitors. Normal CRT monitors still have glass tubes, so any glass cleaner would work (however it may remove any anti-glare or some other special coating they might have, but still it wont damage the tube). But with LCDs you may end up damaging the screen. -
I use a lightly damp microfiber cleaning cloth to clean my laptop screen. My screen is matte BTW. Or sometimes I just use the lens cleaner cloth. Works best. =D
And yeah, no to chemicals. Water is fine and it won't cost you anything. XD -
Simply, breath some vapor on the screen and wipe with a micofiber, it'll be like new
-
and for tougher stains, use some rubbing alcohol. some suggest mixing it, but i think it works fine to put a little on a rag straight. once in a while that dries fast and leaves a little streak but that comes off with a dry cloth, or a huff of breath.
