Hi......notebook newbie here. I am ordering a dell xpsm140 from their outlet and it seems I have a much better selection (and price point) with units w/o bluetooth....i understand if i want a wireless mouse I can go usb but what other advatages am I giving up? I don't connect via my phone (yet) but I don't want to pass something by and realize a year later I should have gotten that (already did that with my home unit 3 years ago...80 gig HD...40 will be plenty...oops)

It really just depends on the user as far as if you would use it or not. It is suppose to elminate the need for USB cords. You can use it with mouse, headphones, cellphones, PDAs, printers (i wouldn't recommend that though).

You can always upgrade to BT in the future. Wal-Mart and most electronic stores sell USB BT adapters that would work just fine. Another option is too call Dell Spare Parts and buy the part from there.

Right now, if you don't have plans on using it, then i would just forget about it for the moment.

i havent really found a use for it yet. I have it on my new z70va, and I have it turned off...probably will never use it. I do not think it is worth it yet (unless you need to sync your phone/pda to your computer for addresses and such).

    hope this helps.

    pb,out.

I use bluetooth to Tether my phone to my laptop to get free EVDO. Free if you can hack the phone that is :) i also plan to get USB headphones. But you can buy a dongle later on anyways. Dont worry about it for a mouse though most RF mouse are still better than the bluetooth ones available.

i think it is fore-go?? i am not sure either! no worries! no one cares!

BTW, i've had BT for a year and a half. always wanted to use it. but my cell phone doesn't have BT. so, I am not using it right now. like mentioned above, u can always get a dongle later but ur lappie might lose one USB port to the dongle and also, might I add, look ungainly. just make sure there is an internal BT module available from dell that u can add later. should be pretty easy to do so. also, they should sell for pretty cheap on ebay soon once the M140 becomes more popular!

Well I suppose it all depends on the user. I dig my BT! I use my laptop for business and work in and out of my car all day. I have a bt printer in the back seat and kensington bt mouse. No cables or cords make life in that car bearable. I have a property inspection business and have to fill out forms and print out pics in the car all day. I sit in the drivers seat with the laptop sitting on top of my laptop bag which lays on its side in the pass. seat. From there I use the mouse on the my arm rest and do all the paperwork with no problems. Then print out the digital pics from the bt canon ip90 in the backseat. Like I said earlier, depends on the user but in my case the bt has been a lifesaver!

I don't think anyone mentioned that you can get a pcmcia card that provides bluetooth. I don't know how the prices compare but I assume that would avoid a dongle sticking out of your computer.
