My computer does not have a built in eSATA port. Would this work? Would I get near the same speeds just like having one built in (3GB/s)? I kind of like the flush idea of this express card. Also, it seems like there are 2 express card slots in my comp. If I only install one, will this leave other slot open and prone to damage such as sand because the protective flap won't close?

EDIT: I have a FreeAgent 1.5 XTreme Extrenal HD with eSATA

First of all it's 3 Gb/s not GB. There's a huge difference.
Secondly it will work if you have the appropriate ExpressCard slot, there are different ones. Also, the card MIGHT stick out since many ExpressCard cards stick out of the laptop. -
Based on the pictures from that site, it seems that the card doesn't stick out. Maybe I'm seeing things.

I have an express card slot that is integrated in the ThinkPad W500. Will this card work?
