Alright, should belong on this board.

Anyway, I just recently got Seagate's FreeAgent Xtreme 1TB external harddrive. It can connect through USB 2.0, Firewire, and eSATA ports, and my computer (see sig) has an eSATA port itself. Obviously, that was the way to go. So I bought a Dynex eSATA cable, since it didn't come with the harddrive, and connected the two.

Nothing. The computer obviously couldn't detect the harddrive, so I experimented and tried it with the USB 2.0 that came with it. It activated, installed all the driver software, worked perfectly. So I retried connecting with the eSATA cable, and again, it didn't seem to work.

Anyone have any theories/remedies? I've tried just about everything I can think of, and am pretty much open to any suggestions at all.

    Many thanks in advance.
