Do you want traditional headphones or in ear monitors?

In ear monitors are the kind that go in your ear and block out noise and prevent others from hearing what you are listening to. Traditional headphones go over the top of your head and allow noise in and out. In ear monitors are a hassle to insert and remove and will have earwax build up on them.

If you want traditional headphones, I would recommend checking out the Sennheiser PX-100. They sound great and go for about $40 but everyone around you will be able to hear what you are listening to. In ear monitors are tougher to recommend because finding a pair that fits well is very important. Try an inexpensive pair of Denon's.

What's your budget? You can get decent enough in ear monitors anywhere from $50 to several hundred dollars. I would reccommend Ultimate Ears, Shure, and Etymotic Research, I would avoid V-Moda and Creative.

notice those razor ones are for the PSP®, Nintendo DS™ or any MP3 player because of theyr single 3.5mm jack? although the picture has an attatchment but i guess you have to try it out and see if it fits your laptop..

it wont on mine, my speaker and mic inputs are too far appart for theyr adapter.

I have the logitech premium notebook headset... theyr very portable, fit behind the head and have nice sound quality.

http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/notebook_products/pc_headsets/devices/223&cl=us,en $47.99 im sure you can find them cheaper..

I have the Sennheiser CX300. The quality is pretty good, but they're noise-cancelling (passive) or something and there's this huge windy noise whenever I move/brush against the cords, which is a bit of an annoyance. Not sure if the CXL400 improves on that or not (I only hear that the CX500 has gotten rid of that problem), but it's something to research before you buy.

i also heard that the CXL400 still has a little noise from cord rubbing. but the overall sound is supposed to be pretty good. but since main use will be gaming or watching movies on comp wasn't a real concern for me. plus its only 20 bucks :D i meet my folks the other day and just about spent that much at jack in the box for lunch..so unless when i put these in my ears, i get polio  for 20 dollars cant really complain

I own the shure se210s and have been extremely happy with them. Buy them on ebay with the live cashback offer, and you can get them for around 70 dollars.

The windy noise when the cable is moved is called microphobics. Some headphones have it worse than others, it depends on the cables. I'll vouch for the strength of the CX300's they're VERY durable. Although you can get better sounding headphones if your willing to pay. But for the price you can get them then they aren't bad at all.

Got the CXL400's today. and after 3 hours of use, I'm extremely happy with them. listening to MP3 i did need to tweak the eq a little in my Realtek/WMP controls. they were a little bright for me especial on rock, but after that all was good. sound is distortion free at max volume, clear and good bass. but to be fair i didn't test rap or any low bass songs, but the eagles, metallica, sound garden, etc. some country, acoustical were real good. now movies. using PowerDVD 8 ultra playing avi movie off HD with the Dolby surround/true theater for headphones was killer it was way better then i expected. vocals and sound effects were clear and defined, then i played national treasure 2 on blu-ray, also killer!!!! i do give some credit to PowerDVD (excellent software) but all and all these headphones deliver. haven't tested on games yet, ran outta time :p
    BOTTOM LINE......
    PROS...1-good non muddy bass.
    2-clear highs/vocals
    3-comfortable/3 diff ear sizes
4-small/ you could sleep with these in your ears
5-block out alot of background noise at low volumes
6-20.00 bucks at New Egg :D
    7-great for movies

CONS...1-cord way to short, could not have them plugged into cell phone with phone in front pocket, would not reach my ears. BTW I'm short 5ft 5, not like i have a super long torso.
2-a little bright if using without EQ
3-some stupid mp3 player clip towards end of wires doesn't effect performance, i just don't get it

If your looking for good earbuds at a low price http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16826106232 buy these.. if you don't like them i will refund your money, shipping not included, offer not valid for people on this forum :D

I also have a pair of Creative EP-630s, it sound quite good for the price. However I would have liked a bit more bass. I recently got a Sony MDR-EX75 for around $20 (with 50% discount) which I think better than EP-630 because it has very deep bass (I love bass), and I think it fits a little better than EP-630.

Senheiser PX100s, or Koss Portapros. Portapros are a little ugly and fragile though. I;d get PX100s for listening on the go, and portapros for home.

Also check this out : Shure I2C-MP Stereo Earphones (Now $39, Original price: $119). Usually Shure makes pretty good earphones, and very hard to find anything from them in this price range; however reviews for this particular model is not very good, most of them say sound quality is mediocre, but then again most of them were treating it as $100 Shure earphoe, therefore expecting a lot out of it. But if you really treat it as a sub $50 pair, then perhaps they are as good, if not better than any other $50 earphone out there.

shure I2c is a cellphone counterpart for E2c. it may work or may not work for mp3 players. ER6i is way better for listing to music weak in bass. e2c is better in bass than ER6i
