Is there any external hard disk (3.5", the big one) which works without external power supply?

Just bought a seagate freeagent pro 320gig, and I am a bit disappointed due to the AC power issue.

A desktop drive needs too much power to go off USB. You could buy a 320GB notebook drive and throw it in a case. They are kind of expensive right now, but with bigger drives coming they'll come down in price.

You didn't know it had to run out of external power supply? :/

Unfortunatily drives like Western Digital Extern HDD Passport II 2.5" 250GB (5400RPM / USB 2.0) are the only ones that can run out of the USB-ports power supply only. :(

The power draw on the 3.5" drives are typically too much for the usb rail to handle on its own. Maybe you can return it perhaps. WD has a 320Gb 5400 drive in the passport external drive format that i am sure is more expensive but it will meet your requirements a whole lot better.
