So I bought a wd scorpio 80gb external hard drive. But I dropped it and when I connected it to my new laptop it installed fine but would not show up on my computer anywhere unless I went to Computer management>system tools>device manager>disk drives then it appears but I cannot see any of the files on it or put anything on it. What should I do?

Can you try to change the drive letter? If it is brand new it might need to get an NTFS Format.
