well this is a techie forum, so i thought i might get a good response on this subject here. just looking for recommendations on a set of earbuds to use working out. i am not a big fan of earbuds normally. they never fit well and fall out constantly. i know there are different styles/brands that are geared especially for activity and i dont want to use my regular earphones for working out. so anyone care to share what they like/dislike?

Klipsch Custom's are what i use. They sound great, and they go around your ear. With many different "gel" sizes included i think you should find ones that fit good.
This should probably be in the Accessories forum though -
well if a mod thinks this belongs in the accessories forum feel free to move it. in my mind i was thinking the other forums are computer related and this was exercise related so it'd fall more in off-topic, but i can see your point.
i see there are different klipsch models, some getting pretty pricey. i should have added that id prefer to spend around $20, but that is by no means a hard cut-off. my primary objective is to have them stay put. sound quality here would be secondary, but still important.
do you use the custom-1s? -
I use KOSS KSC75 Clip-ons, the best.

I use Motorola S9-HD, no cables/cords to get in the way, super light, and pretty fashionable.
I use my Nokia N900 to drive them, I used to use my Sony W760 -
I use my Westone ES3X musician monitors. They are custom molded for my ears so they never fall out, and IMO are much more comfortable than any universal IEM.
Oh yeah, they also sound pretty good, but if I did it now, I'd probably go for something from Jerry Harvey instead of Westone.
Edit: Just read your comment about 20$, yeah I guess none of my suggestions will fit into your budget. -
I have a $9 pair of sony earbuds tinted green that I have used for a while now. Work great!
-
Etymotic Research HF5..
They never ever fell out but this really depends on what type of tips are you using and how big or small is your ear canal. -
The free in-ear earbuds that came with the Dell Inspirons. Plus Pandora on the Pre.

skull candy inkd. cheap and great.

Another thing to concider with workout phones is water/humidity senstivity. I actually was looking for the same thing a while ago (money issues kept me from buying), and was pretty set on one of the Sennheiser sports models. The Sony sports models also get pretty good grades.
-
DO NOT buy anything from Scullcandy even tho somebody recommended it..
They sell cheap chinese pieces of crap that have crappy sound and last for about 11 months and 3 weeks...
Look at good headphone brands..
Sennheiser, Bose, Etymotic Research, Klipsch, KOSS..
You won't be sorry. -
You put Bose in the same catagory as Sennheiser and the others? I agree Skull Candy is garbage, but buying Bose is buying advertising, not quality products.
-
Some Bose products aren't actually that bad, if you only paid 1/3 the price for them.
-
thanks for the suggestions everyone
thanks again everyone -
Vmoda isn't bad either.

Ultimate Ears by Logitech has some very nice offerings.

I have these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0..._m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0CK3M77KE8A7TVWDQK9J -
I have UEs too, but I wouldn't use them for exercize.
-
I'm currently using the RE-0 and they're pretty versatile, while delivering above average sound.

The Koss KSC75 for the price sound awesome and are pretty comfortable. They do however leak out alot of sound if you plan to workout in a gym. Some versions of KSC75 have an inline volume dial as well (I think all the US sold ones do).
I never use mine anymore only because I have upgraded a few too many times (ie have too many expensive headphones thanks to upgraditis) thanks to sites like headfi.org. For the price, they are tough to beat. -
Quick question, has anybody used the Razer Moray headphones? If so, are they worth the money?

HOWEVER, this thread is about what are your favorite ear-buds/phones to work out with. I would absolutely recommend the brands you mentioned above (maybe not KOSS unless it was their high end) if we were talking about premium headphones that won't be subjected to scenarios that could cause them to be broken, damaged, or stolen. But that isn't the case.
The reason i prefer Skull-candy for the gym, riding my motorcycle, and backpacking is all these activities are subjecting the buds to some serious abuse. Sweat, weights, hot engines/pipes, rocks, dust... they are cheap enough that I can have several replacements packed if the unforscene happen. I wouldn't be able to do the same for my SE530s.
Wearing high priced ear-buds to the gym, would be the same as wearing your your Tag watch to the gym or taking a Porsche into a demolition derby.
If you have the money to spend and that's what your prerogative is, then more power to ya. But for most people, gym ear-buds/phones are going to be something that sounds decent and easily replaced/repaired. just a thought -

What about something like these?

For working out I don't think high sound quality is essential, and it seems that if you spend a lot of money on them you wouldn't want to get them all grungy while working out. But Sennheiser sells something similar to this if you want to spend a little more. -
It cracks me up that people recommend such expensive earbuds (and some aren't earbuds) for exercise.
-
If you use IEMs use those.
Unless you have those large unwieldy over the ear ones they should do fine.
When I went jogging along the coast in Sunderland in the past I used "Clip on the ear" Sony ones - if I were to go jogging now I'd use my Sennheiser IE8.
If your headphones are comfortable (whatever you have) use those -
If you're jogging outside and wearing IEMs, make sure to watch out for traffic because of isolation.
-
(Although the racket that buses and trains create here in the UK they wouldn't hear them at maximum either... cough) -
any cheap earbuds should do.
you can't tell the difference when you panting and sweating anyway, save the iem for traveling and full sized for home.
all you gonna hear is cable noise/foot stomping/breathing if you use an iem for gym. -
-
Problem solved
Cable noise - I don't get any from the IE8 and I didn't get any from the EX85 before they broke either... (yes, I managed to have them fall apart, they'll still play sound though) - the EX85 are bad when eating though -
