I am going to australia for a couple months. I just bought a new laptop acer aspire 5720 and I am wondering what I need to buy or what would be nice to have for my trip. I have never flown before nor have I been anywhere but canada so I am a bit lost as to what I need.
I am looking for a carry case that will double as my carry on bag.
I have not a clue what type of power adapters I will need on the plane? and once I am over there. Or if they even have power outlets on the planes?
What other things are different from canada that will affect the use of my lappy once I am there? once again I am a complete newb at this so any info in general as to the plane what type of things should I carry with me. and what to expect at the airport any help would be wonderfull Thanks alot fellas![]()

If you have the money buy a backup battery in case there are not enough outlets. Yes, a carrying case is needed. Usb mouse? If you don't like to use the touchpad like I do. A cooling fan? Earphones/Headphones for the plane trip. You don't want to disturb the people with music or movies.

The first thing I'd pick up would be a lock, for the brief times you might leave the laptop unattended.
Here's a bunch of styles.

JVC Marshmallows or any earphones of that type that will help you isolate the airplane noise =] (And whatever noise might bother you if you watch movies and such from your lappie).
Make sure you have the power adapter that works in Australia? (I believe they have 220V over there).
I always find a cooling pad useful if using a laptop literally on my laps - clothing tends to block some of the heat vents. -

Thanks for the ideas I found you're other post linking to head-fi.org well now I have most likely found something else to drain my wallet what would you reccomend for noise canceling headphones either in ear or a true head phone set I have no real preference. I just like to listen to music and like bass and clarity above all I also do not like big headphones something on the smaller side would be best. ohh I would prefer not to spend more then 60$ on in ear phones and no more then 125 on a good set of headphones Thanks
I dont mind the touchpad so I wont require a mouse although I will probably wind up with a wireless mouse and keyboard when I get my external moniter/tv. I like the spare battery idea I'll have a look around so far I have got around 3 hours whilst setting up the computer downloading music and surfing the web I can't wait to see what I get once I have everything set up and am just typing stuff and using spreadsheet's or watching a movie should be pretty good.
Thanks for all the help I'll post back up tomorrow with some of the things I find for opinions
first time travelling what do I need for my lappy
