initally the comp remains perfectly cool, but after a while the underneath of the gateway gets extremely hot (gradually over 2 hours)

heres what ive done so far:
    1. undervolted cpu, runs 1gig @ .764 and 1.7gig @ 1.036. with speed step on ac power
    2. as5 cpu
    3. i use RMclock

i can even run on battery power @ 800mhz .7vcore and it STILL gets hot -_-

i have a notebook cooler, but its really annoying to carry around especially when im on trips.

what i want to do is have this lappy perfectly cool when its on for longer than 2 hours. i dont know whats heating up the comp, but hopefully its not the cpu.
ive never used any compressed air on this comp, and i dont think i really need to as ive opened it up and didnt really see much dust on the mobo at all.

    specs(in sig too):
    1.7pm dothan
    1gig ddr ram
    4200RPM 75gb hdd
    integrated graphics

with this stuff i shouldnt really expect this thing to get hot, BUT IT STILL DOES.

    thanks for looking/helping ^_^

Where is the heat comming from?

IMO its the HDD. HDD's is where most of the heat comes from (unless yours has a fan/heatsink for it)

theres these four little vents near the ram
thats where all the heat comes from.

i kinda doubt the hdd, as its 4200 RPM, but its old so then it could just be

Try cleaning the dust off a bit. I noticed a 3 degree difference doing that to two 4 yr old notebooks that appeared to have little if any dust.
