    Hi there,

recently, my friends asked what I want for housewarming and I said I prefer a webcam to a toaster oven. So they got me TEAC MX-6 (with capability of 1.3 MP, Skype transmission is limited to 480X640). At first it worked fine (if anybody's interested I can post pics), but then I disconnected it from the USB port (since I carry my laptop between work and home daily) and after connecting again at home the next evening, I didn't get it to work in any other way but uninstalling and reinstalling the software. I called company representatives of course, and a technician said that it's a general problem with all webcams, that they are not meant to be disconnected. Is this really so or did he fool me?

Did you try rebooting? Sometimes certain devices just don't like to reconnect.

when should I reboot? after plugging the webcam in? I'll try that tonight but I don't have much hope as I think I have possibly tried all combinations-permutations of disconnecting and reconnecting.

I have used a Logitech 4000, Ultra Vision and now the 9000. All of them can be unplugged and plugged back in any usb port on my computer without having to reinstall anything. The 9000 I have to say is REALLY nice. I was impressed by it.
