ive read on the net you can use the xbox 360 controller on a pc. however the one article i read needed to use the usb wire to work. is there any way to get console game controllers to work wireless via bluetooth?

Via bluetooth there is no way due to no one knowing how the ps3's bluetooth code is because sony keeps this Hush Hush but you can use it via usb. Or get an xbox 360 wireless controller and wireless usb receiver

To make the wireless 360 controller work in Windows, you need to purchase a wireless receiver from Microsoft.

With the PS3 controller, you can of course make that work wired and I hear also wirelessly with a Bluetooth unofficial drivers/hack. -

Youcan just hook up the wire into Pc and ur xbox controller is ready for use as I hav tested it myself but I am not sure about the PS3. Can it be really used?

thanks all. thats what i was afraid of. I was messing with all 3 last night and couldnt get any to work without a wire.
I even downloaded glovePIE which allows a wii controller to be used and couldnt get that to work either. I think it was the dafault microsoft bluetooth drivers stopping me. -
Yep, Microsoft has added offical support for X360 controller for Windows Vista (maybe even XP) and some games even offer you to play with it if you've got one. (Like Devil May Cry 4 or the new Prince of Persia)
With PS3 controller, there are unoffical drivers what make it work. Even Motion Sensor and Rumble work, so both of them are useable. -
I think you will be better off using the Microsoft controller for windows. As akuma said, a lot of games officially support it.

Microsoft's Xbox360 controller when plugged in via the USB cable automatically installs it's self on both 32bit and 64bit versions of XP, Vista, and windows 7, most games will just WORK with it, even alot of indie games are preconfigured for the controller.
As said, the PS3 controller also installs it's self automatically if you plug it in via USB, but most games require you to configure the controls youself since the PS3 controller isn't officially supported on windows, even though it works perfectly like it should.
Also, the wireless Xbox360 controller doesn't use Blutooth, so you would need to buy the reciever that Rahul posted. -
(note) only the wired xbox controller. The wireless one requires the receiver. The play and recharge kit does not transfer data via usb, only power.

Download the drivers and follow the instructions on the above website to get your PS3 controller working, got it running with windows vista after about 10mins of playing. Their are quite a few methods to installing the drivers and a few different versions but most should work. -

Just use the plug and play cable as they call it. And Im pissed that COD WaW wont allow controller usage

I wish someone cracks the PS3 controller or Sony gives up...
Just get the XBOX 360 controller, its "OFFICIALLY" supported so you should have way less problems -

I am the forums official wiimote master.
I am a fan of the Wiimote it can do may more than the PS3 or Xbox controllers could ever dream of doing. But as a recommendation for the overall best pad its hands down the Xbox360 one. Its plug & play, its a good controller, and its not very expensive.
I also have my own arcade controls that I built, so I have a wide spectrum of controller use/knowledge.
I prefer the arcade controls for shumps & fighters, the wiimote is my laptop controller due to being small & wireless, and the xbox controller would be my overall desktop controller. However most games I would be playing on my desktop are going to be keyboard & mouse. -
tinker in vista ultimate is built to work better with the xbox 360 controller than keyboard
