I have been reading up here on bluetooth/usb wirelss mouses and to be honest, I don't really see the need for a wireless that needs batteries or a charger...seems a mouse is easy to plug in when needed and the wire isn't really in the way....so what would be a good compact choice for travel?

I like the Razor's. I have the Copperhead myself. 2,000 dpi---precise action.

Optical of course. A standard Microsoft optical USB mouse with 2-buttons and scrollwheel will run you $15 or so. I've had mine...sheesh...5 years or more? Still running. AND I painted it and took it apart numerous times.

Sounds good....but since it is 5 years old and been painted, I'll give 12.50 for it...

I have the Microsoft Intellimouse Optical USB that has the second set of buttons on the side for the forward and back buttons of a web page, makes surfing so much faster, it was 35 bucks CDN.

Cheap Logitech corded optical here. I like the way it tracks on the couch.

Logitech Cordless Mini Mouse is great for notebooks with a very small profile. Personally, I would never get a Microsoft mouse as it has ****py software to go with it (you can't even reassign the left and right tilt-functions on their "tilt-wheel"!!!).
Got mine for $30 and have never looked back from my ****py Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse 2.0 -
How about this Logitech Notebook Optical Plus?
It's on Amazon.com. ( link) -
dare I say Logitech V400?

I purchased a Logitech V270 about a month ago and I love it!
When I'm working on my lap, I use the surface to the right side of the touchpad to place the mouse. This only works because 90% of my work uses the mouse, I only use the keyboard to input numbers.
good all around mouse for notebook
