hey guys i'm thinking about getting some speakers for my laptop sometime soon and i was wondering what the best speakers would be best (keeping price in mind of course)? i dont think i will be spending over $100 for them, excellent bass is a must, and i don't really care if its surround sound or not.

You can find the Logitech Z-2300 or Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 speaker systems for around $100 on eBay. They're both 2.1 systems (two speakers and a subwoofer), and have more bass than you'll ever need. I own the Z-2300 and I've been quite happy with it.

Both are powered PC media speakers, no nothing to worry about.

Def go with the logitech between the 2.

The Klipsch pro-medias sound great for what they are....as long as they work. The amp is rather crude and poorly constructed on them, and has a tendancy to burn up resistors. Also the control pod has been know to fail too. If your good with a soldering iron and do some research, you can repair the typical problems pretty eaily when they do come up, and use the opportunity to solder in better suited pieces to prevent it from happening again too. If you dont want to deal with any of that and want a reliable setup, then just get the logitechs. They sound equally as good and are far less likely to crap out on you.

Yeah I got them used. The only thing that worries me at the moment is how long they are going to last. Can't wait to get em though :)
