After buying my brand new Acer Aspire 5672 I realised that I didn't have any bag that would actually fit the thing. So since I need to haul it to work and back home every day, I went in search of the impossible:
a bag that fits my laptop, will provide sufficient protection, look nice and not too much like a laptopbag and not cost a fortune.
After spending half a day shopping (had to buy in the shop since I needed a bag urgently), I found something that fit most of my criteria:

the Mandarina Duck "File briefcase" bag

    Art: E9C09791
    Dimensions: 16.14x13.38x4.52 inches 2.31 pounds 41x34x11.5 cm 1.050 kg
Composition: Leather: Full grain calfskin pigmented finish - Fabric: Nylon synthetic textile with waterproof treatment - Lining: Pa/Pes - Strap: Pp/Pa - Accessories: Metal/Pa/Nylon
Description: 15.4” Pc case – Double handle - Type: In hand, on shoulder – Zip closure – Double inside slot – Further inner removable pc slot - Double inside pocket with zip closure – Outside front office organised pocket with covered zip closure – Outside back pocket with velcro closure – Aside straps for bag’s expansion

The bag is made of leather and textile. I like the design because it's looking professional and elegant without being a "real" briefcase. It looks much more like a big handbag than a computer bag. Inside there's lots of pockets and compartments. The front compartment, behind the leather, has a zipper and has 2 zippered pockets plus open pockets for pda, phone and 5 pens (also handy for lipgloss or a small mp3 player, my Samsung YP-U1 just fits in) inside. The only drawback is that if you squeeze something bulky into this compartment, you will see it bulging through the leather.
On the back is a compartment closed with some velcro in the middle with just enough room for some papers or a magazine.
The inside of the bag is divided into 2 compartments. The divider itself is a zippered pocket and if you look closely, you see that it isn't attached to the bottom of the bag, but rather is part of a big pocket, originating from the side, in which the removable pc folder sits. So if you're not carrying a computer, you can push this pocket to the side to create one big space in the bag. The laptop folder itself has except for the expected foam padding also a metal mesh on the big sides, making it not hard but protecting against sharp edges pressing into the foam from the outside. Since it's opening at the top it's possible to extract your laptop without taking the folder out of the bag. One minor point is that the folder is not a completely closed enveloppe. The underside is open a couple of centimeters at the corners so you have to be a little bit careful when you use it with another bag. I wouldn't want junk from the bottom of a bag getting into my ports.
Both the front and back wall have one more zippered pocket on the inside of the bag. Inside these pockets are the ends of the straps which are adjustable in length. Although they actually get thinner where they pass over the shoulder, I found them to be comfortable.
The top closes with a zipper so that nothing falls out and the stuff inside is protected from the rain.
I had no problems to fit my computer, powersupply, external mouse, phone, mp3 player, wallet and lunchpacket inside. There's some more space for some papers or a book but it would be difficult to put something non-flat in because the bag is quite thin and the computer in its folder is taking up about half of the thickness. Although if you don't mind things bulging out it is possible.
So now the bad news: at about 200 euro it doesn't exactly come cheap. But considering the quality I found it worth it.
And also: the 5672 is not a small computer, so as you can imagine a bag that will fit it is also not exactly small. So if you're a tiny person then this bag might not be for you since it might look as if the bag is carrying you instead of the other way around.
