Everyone I know with Toshiba laptops has overheating issues so you're not alone. One of my friends just died and the others sometimes justs shuts itself off without any warning whatsoever.

Sometimes putting something under the rear end of laptop helps to keep it cooler by allowing the air to circulate better on the underside, not convinient always but does help dramatically in some circumstances.

I would recommend you try other things to cool down your notebook, tips at cooling central should help (undervolting specifically)

Out of those choices, i suggest the first one.

Look for possibly an NZXT Cryo LX.

All coolers are more or less same as far as the cooling performance is concerned, differences are : extras (USB ports), controllable FAN speeds, FAN noise and design. Having fans right below the intake vents will improve the efficiency.
