    help with hdmi cable

    i don't know if it is just me, but i always thought the female connectors in the cable had a slot like form and male connectors of a cable had pins sticking out...

    now i get puzzled - a few of my friends and a few members here said that they use hdmi cable with male connectors in their notes. this would mean that the entire line should have female connector on the rigs (you can't plug male cable in to male port :D )

    but here's what my cousin's laptop has... for me it's a male port so i'd need female connector on the cable, wouldn't i? or maybe i'm mistaken here.

    any ideas? which cable should i get to send the audio-video out to the hdtv? it has the same looking port as well. so should i get male-male as i was suggested or female-female as i think i should? thanks for your help!

    thats a female port... and hdmi cables have both ends male.

    that's a female port? you're sure about that? gosh i thought that was a male port...

    eee concerning that cables - i've seen a few offers at a few shops here, some stated hdmi(female)-hdmi(female) some hdmi(male)-hdmi(male) types. could it be just a mistake there? the diffence in price is quite substantial - male ones are somewhere near tripled price of female ones :D

    oh well maby im mistaken but i thought that was a female port... Cas of she SKY HDMI boxes and my dads hdtv.. i guess im wrong , sorry?? i dunno

    even though there's the line of pins? yes, i'm more accustomed to older vga cables :D

    yeah i know that... my girlfriend might confirm that if you don't believe my words :D

    but with electronics and all those bad connotations fossilled after elctronics classes i got doubts whether that 'pin' like thingy in the middle isn't suggesting male port :p
