I bought a Sony VaioVGN-CR11S but cant seem to see the CD/DVD drive in the windows explorer or devices.
Can someone tell me what type of adaptor USB cable I need to test this drive to see if it is working.
I have a SATA adaptor cable but the optical drive connection is different.
I don't thyink it is a driver problem or maybe I am wrong.
I connected an external USB CD/DVD drive and it was recognised immediately.

    What is your operating system?

Have you checked if the drive shows up in Disk Management or Device Manager?
