    I dont think the D420 has a express card slot to use the SSD express card. I think it only has a PC Card - Type I/II(PCMCIA slot).

    You can use it for Vista ReadyBoost but it would be a waste if you are only buying it for that. It can also be used as a storage device.

    You would have to buy an internal SSD if you wanted to use it as your primary hard drive:
