Is the dock connector on the iPod Nano (second generation) smaller than that on other iPods? I want to get one but I'm worried it won't fit the direct input dock cord I have for my car stereo.

It's the same dock connector (all modern iPods, save for the shuffle, use the same dock connector). It should connect to your dock connector cord with no problems.
