    Hi all.

Next week I'm either buying a G73 or Qosmio.

I have an "extra" $100 in my budget.

    Should I.....

    a) go from 4GM ram to 8GM ram in qosmio? (6gb to 8 gb[matched 4gb sticks in g73)

    b) buy an OEM copy of windows 7 home premium 64 and reformat/reinstall?

    THanks in advance

Why buy an OEM copy of Windows 7? The G73 comes with 7 on it. All you have to do is download the Windows 7 Disk in the Windows section of NBR, and use the key from the bottom of your G73.

I would get a good one or more of the following:

    Gaming mouse(razor Orochi :D)
    Nice big Bag
    Games
Thermal paste for redoing the GPU and CPU.
    Thumb Drive 32GB
    Portable HDD.

It should be possible to remove that.

If you've got some extra money to spend, go for a higher resolution screen or possibly better spec processor if they're available. Otherwise keep your money for something useful when you need it.

SSD or momentus XT. Depending how many disk bays you have (2 or 1). And what do you do.

    Agree with others.
Get a nice mouse, lots of sales on mice lately, MX518 went for $10 brand new on Amazon couple weeks back.
Get a couple games, Steam is having awesome sales this time of year.
You can get some Arctic Clean and Arctic Silver 5 on Amazon for $12 for a repaste of CPU and GPU.
And hopefully have $50 left to go out to dinner with someone special.

Don't buy Win7 again, you get a key, just download a legit copy (I think Amazon and Digital River host the legal .iso images).
Probably don't need anymore RAM if this is a gaming rig. If you do professional Photoshop with a new DSLR that will give you HUGE image files to work with, you may benefit from 6gigs, otherwise, not really.
I have 6 gigs as it came free with the XPS through university discount, never even hits 4 gb usage.

Maybe spend $50 on your girlfriend and the other $50 on your boyfriend instead of more computer stuff. ;)

no need to buy Windows, just download it from the software NBR thread.

    Get an SSD

why put more money into your old qosmio when you're getting a g73? Doesn't make any sense.
