Well, depends how much you're willing to spend. For under $50, I'd highly recommend the Creative EP-630 in-ear earbuds. I have them, paid about $25 for them, and they rock. They're nicely designed, they have good build quality, they sound great and isolate outside sound fantastically.

Yup, Shure or Ultimate Ears are excellent choices. I have the Shure E3C and UE Super.fi 5 Pro.

There's another recent thread on this subject kicking around here.

id definitely look into shures. they have headphones for a wide variety of budgets.

and someone also mentioned supers so only other suggestion would be etymotic, though they are kind of expensive and you didnt post any kind of budget.

I love my Shure E2c's, just make sure your jack doesn't have a lot of background noise or it'll drive you batty.

I recommend steering clear of etys ( etymotics ) i recently purchest my most recent headphones and after about 100 hours of research ( yes i had that much spare time >.< ) I found that they were poor for bang for buck vs shure.

Do you actually own any ety's to make that kind of judgment or are you just going off the online stat sheets? I've had ety ear plugs for years now, they are fantastic and I am looking forward to buying some headphones later in the year.

Btw, why are all the responses in this thread about in-ear canal headphones? If you want a cheap and reliable pair of circumral, try Sennheiser HD 212pro, I managed to pick mine up for under AU$85

Yes I have. 2 actually and returned both in favour of the Shure. I gave ety 2 chances and both were a heavy disappointment.

I mean ear phones not head sry.

I've just ordered a pair of Sennheiser CX300 ear-phones from Amazon (UK). You can get them for less than £10! They were introduced about 18 months ago (hence the clearance-like price; they were originally about £40), and whilst they are not spectacular, they do get very good reviews. At less than £10, they seem great value.

I'll report back in a few days and tell you what I think of them.

I've been using V-Moda Vibes with my iPod/PSP for about a year now and love them. Recently saw them at Costco for like $70-80. Plan on using them when my M1330 gets in too.

I had a problem finding good sounding earbuds that didn't cost a mint (more than $100). I bought a pair of JBL reference earbuds and they sound f-n amazing. I compared them to the plethora of earbuds piled up in my office and these were by far the best sounding buds I have ever heard. The chord is nylon wrapped as well which is a nice quality touch. I got them on sale at BB for $50 (regular $100) at Xmas time.

I'd probably get some Futuresonic Atrio M5's but those will run you about 150USD. Some say they have to much bass, but thats exactly what I want. ;)

I had a set of these. Absolute junk. The Ety's and Shures that are the same price (or a bit more) are MUCH better in both fit and sound quality. The chord was very nice on the Vibes though.

But man... they just do not stay in your ears. The little plastic things (dunno what they're called) were crap. No matter which plastic tips you put on, there was no pressure to keep them in your ears.

X2P which model Ety's did you have? I found they weren't as good as the Shures, but I was comparing them against the high end shure (e4c or i4c?)... Shures were def better, but those were over 2x as expensive as my ety's.

Very good point with the V-modas. They are more for "style". Every morning I see dozens of people trying to push them in and keep them in on the train. Its like a sport.

I actually tried the i4c and the ER6i. Interesting :p shures were cheaper for me then the Etys . I do have to admit that for some types of music they etys win.

One warning about Etys/shure or any in ear earphones. They take getting used to.

Heh, I paid about $80 for my Etys. The ER4i's I think.

Big problem with Ety, is they haven't updated their product line in 4 years or so (as far as I know) so it could be why they don't stack up against others as well now.

I've never had a problem getting the Vibes to fit in my ear. They never pop out and I run 3-4 miles a day with them on. I couldn't find Ety's or Shures in the same price range that I liked. :( Then again, different strokes for different people. I didn't like the Senn HD595s but loved the HD555s that I replaced them with.

I once considered Etymotics but what deterred me from them were those little filters that need replacing every so often.
