let just put it this way.. "i'll buy them"

after much contemplation and spending around 20 days with each mice, Ive tested the copperhead, Logitech G5, and MX518 I eventually stuck with the G5 mainly because I like the texture of the grips. The copperhead's sides dug too much into my skin. The MX518 gets sticky after awhile from sweat. The material in the G5 seems insulated and does not get sticky or hot after long hours of gaming. It also has slightly less friction because of its large feet. My only gripe about the g5 is the lack of two thumb buttons and the scroll while isnt as easy to use as the MX518 or copperhead...
oh, and the leds on the copperheadmay be cool at first, but after awhile, they get distracting and annoy the hell outta me and theres no way to turn it off
my 0.02 -
btw, the G5 include some sort of extra feature that allows you to adjust its weight, imo this is just a gimmick, and if you don't need that and you're only willing to spend $50 and like good looks then the razer would be a good option. -
After having used a wireless mouse for the past few years, I find it almost painfull to have to go back and use a corded mouse. The cord always just ends up getting in the way, getting snagged on something or just getting in the way. And I have seen no lag at all in games, and I've used it for half life 2 and it's many mods, BF2, and in RTS games like Dawn of War and generals. I personally think the mx610 is a steal for 35 bucks, and if you want to spend a bit more you can find the g7 for around 65-70 bucks, and it's one of the best mice you can buy.
-
I tried their Diamondback and to be honest did not like it, and it felt like it'd fall apart in my hand.
G series from Logitech is great, but I hate how they ommited the "forward" button, what an idiot gamer suggested they do that?
MX1000 is BY FAR the most comfy mouse ever! I hope they release a G10 version of it, with a replacement batts, small adapter, and a charger like G7.
Would buy that in a heard beat. -
Personally not a big fan of razer mice. Logitech g5 or G7 get my recommendation. I like the G5 design better and actually the weight feature is kind of nice because you can get the weight just right. I hate when mice are to light or heavy.

Absolutely the Razer is worth it. I had a Diamondback for about a year, recently moved to the Copperhead.
This is flat out the best mouse I have ever used. I'd recommend it for gaming and precision use - if you're just a home or casual user, I would not. Razer's are very durable - I know friends who beat the hell out of theirs, and they have yet to show any sign of breaking or coming loose. The Copperhead only improves on the DB's build quality.
If you're looking for the best gaming/precision mouse, it's a Razer. Logitech makes some great home mice, but honestly, their gaming mice don't stack up to Razer. -
-
i did not like the diamond back at all but i love mycopper head. perfect button placement for me atleast..
-
taht white one looks sessy, when is that coming out
-
Razer's mice are absolutely worth it! That is, if the shape is right for you. I'm in love with my Diamondback Plasma LE because of the nearly perfect shape, awesome buttons, and excellent sensitivity. When I'm using it, I just forget about it, and that's the way a mouse should be. I've played with Logitech's offerings, but the larger size and asymmetrical shape just don't work for me - I can't control them as quickly or as precisely.

I use a Razer Viper mouse and really like it. It's a little smaller than the current Razers. It's the best mouse I've ever used, but it's no longer in production. I bought 4 new and unopened Vipers off eBay, last year, so I've got a good supply for a long time.
I don't like Logitech and Microsoft mice. They look and feel like small bowls flipped upside down. I don't want a mouse with 4, 5, 6, or 7 buttons, either. -
I don't like the razers because they are too small and light but thats just me. I've used wireless mice starting with the mx700 and now the G7 both have been great.
-
I have been using the Diamondback for a year. I have no complains and like the accuracy of the mouse. My long range snipe kills in fps games increased significantly when I switched from the MS Intellimouse and Logitech's mouse. I like the Logitech's mouse fit to my palm but it doesnt perform as well as my Razer.

I had the original razer mouse and absolutely loved it. But after 15 month of abuse (and I do mean ABUSE) the left mouse button died! Seeing the new releases of the Razer's makes me want to go back to a Razer mouse but the thought of $50+ dying so quickly is disheartening.
I've sinced used Logitech mouses and they have thus far been indestructible. Currently using a G7 and IMO it is worth every penny.
No observable differences in tracking/skipping even though it's wireless. 2 Batterys meaning you always have one charged and ready. The USB mini-receiver can be plugged into the charge base (which is then plugged into your laptop) or plugged directly into your system. This way you can take just the mouse and receiver to lounge on the couch or sit at your desk and charge the spare battery. You can even leave the charge station without the receiver plugged into your desktop, where it'd charge and not trigger any USB hardware recognition. On the fly resolution change, as is on the Razer, tons of fun. -
I've had a razor for a few months, couldn't get my hand to get used to the shape, was a bit too small and long. switched over to the g5, and to me its by far a better fit. not too crazy about the g7 which I also have because the surface is very smooth and dirt builds up VERY quickly, but much more convienient due to the lack of cord. However cannot use it because I have the logitech z5450 speakers with the wireless rear speakers and it interfares with the g7's signal, ugh... what a pity.
-
It's worth the money, but if you think about it. Do you really need it? It's a great mouse but unless you're a gaming enthusiast you probably wont need it.
-
I bought the razer copperhead on ebay for 30 bucks, when you hold it its not as comfortable as my MX510, but i got use to it a week later and i can kill way more bad guys online now
-
As long as you can kill more people I guess its worth the investment...I play Strategy games
( not worth it for me)
-
Razer's are pretty nice mouses I hear though the Logitechs are better for most people which are right handed and razers are good for left handed gamers. The copperhead is not a bad mouse however. Also I own a G7 and I pretty much love it not much LAG at all.
-
I played with all the gamming mice 8 months ago for several weeks and ended up getting the G7. If it had a back thumb button, I would consider it the best gamming mouse ever.
I suggest you play with all mice.
I got the new G7 on eBay for $35. -
While Razer mice "click" well, I don't like their shape. I'm more of a Microsoft mouse kinda guy, and have been using them since the late 90s. I don't like the way Logitech mice click, or the shape of their bigger mice. I've personally got a Laser mouse 6000 and its the best mouse I've ever used/bought.
Mice, like keyboards, can be good/bad depending on the user. Different people have different hands, different ways of using the mouse, and different requirements for their mice. The best way to decide whether a mouse is worth it or not is to actually try it out. If you're comfortable with it and like it, then any mouse will be worth it, regardless of the price. Since you're gonna be using your mouse almost every time you're on your computer, you're gonna need to like it and be very comfortable with it. -
I have tested out the razer mouse at frys and to be honest, I don't think it worth to spend that much money on the razer. IMO, the Logitechs are a lot better in terms of size and gaming wise. People said they would prefer the Razer probably because they never used Logitechs.
-
I would imagine that most Razer users have indeed tried both types, and found that the Logitechs just didn't suit them. -
this is a very interesting thread for me beacuse I am on the market for a gaming mouse. I really really really love my old Logitech mx300 but can't seem to find it anywhere. Nonetheless, I noticed that the Razer's have a similar look to the MX300 and this alone is pushing me to buy one. Has anyone owned the Logitech MX300 and can you give me a comparison to the Razer Copperhead??
-
i generally like the bulkier logitech designs
a friend of mine has both mouses (err mice) but he likes the razer one better. i guess it all depends on the person
-
I switched from my 2 year old Razer Viper to the new Razer Krait. The two are basically the same shape, but the Krait is vastly improved in terms of tracking, control, precision. I also added a Razer Mantis pad, which works very well with the Krait.
-
I just ordered the Razer copperhead (tempest blue) and will be sure to report how well it does as soon as it (along with my computer) comes in.
*note: I've always stood by Logitech products but can't seem to get myself to like the G5/G7 nor the MX6something...I have been using the MX300 (old mouse I know) and the V200 which I truly adore. Nonetheless, I am very attracted to the Razer's sleek design which makes it look like it will contour to my hand rather comfortably -
I've been using a Diamondback and i love it, its great for gaming (WoW in particular and FPS). I got it cause it was cheaper and it works great and feels great.

Just read some reviews on the Death Adder.
I consider the G5/G7, Cooper Head and MX518 briefly. Then my eyes glance back at pictures of the Death Adder. The reviews provide reassurance there is substance behind the style. Unfortunately, I don't know where I could try out Razor mice in a store to see if I would like its ergonomics. I'm in London for uni and don't know it well enough, so if you want to give me a heads up...
This post is not so much a *should I pay this much for a mouse* (student loan takes care of that), but more *some one post I should just buy it blindly and love it unconditionally because it looks so good*

Razer is by far the best gaming mouse maker out there imo. They fit both right and left handed users (sans the Deathadder for lefties), they are extremely accurate, and they just plain look cool. I have the diamondback, and copperhead, and have had the chance to play with the deathadder.
It all comes down to personal opinion though. -
Thought of one more reason to get a Death Adder. My left handed 11 year old brat, sorry - brother, can't use it
-
I use the G7 mouse. It has been with me for 3 months now. So far, I have never encountered any skipping, or lag problems caused by its wireless connection. IMO, Razer and Logitech mice are incomparable in performance. There's almost no difference to notice except for the texture, and shape of the mouse. It all boils down to which mouse fits your hand the best.
-
OK, as a favour for the whole forum (as I'm such a nice guy
), I'm going to get a Death Adder. Will have to wait though. Release dates changes from this coming week to the week after. For my own sanity, I will order when stock is in. No pre-order head ache for me!
P.S. I tried a G5 and G7 in store (not hooked up to machine). Mostly pretty good. Just me or is the middle mouse click a little... off? Not quite perfected? Inconsequential any way, I'm sure its very good. But didn't like the G7s colour
P.P.S. Will a kind mod please change the title to "Are..." or "Is a Razor...". I understand it but its bothering me -
This quite good article about mice performance. In addition to that here's a review of Razer DeathAdder from the same site. Razer Copperhead doesn't seem to be doing very well in those benchmarks.. Well, I still have Razer Copperhead and it works fine for me.
-
I went into Best Buy in lower Manhattan last night (ostensibly to try out a Asus G1 but they didn't have one out). Looked and tried their gaming mice. Expected to love the Copperhead, but the MX518 felt much better in my hand (pure personal preference) so I'm about to buy that through Newegg ($39.99)...
Now my next question for a seperate thread is - Are gaming mousepads worth it?
Rc -
Man I was tempted to get the G5 or MX518... but 40 notes for the Death Adder.... mini-impressions soon! (And I will be able to vote in the poll!). Shame UK shops don't stock Razer like in the US
-
I have a tempest blue copperhead and all I have to say is that it performs very well in FPS such as CS:S,BF2142,BF2,CoD2...
-
My new Razer DeathAdder gaming mouse has arrived and I've been able to play with it for a few days! £40 notes from Amazon UK marketplace. Ordered yesterday, arrived today, so great stuff there
I had considered the Logitech G5, G7 and MX518 as well as the Razer Copperhead.
Installation of driver effortless. Pop the included CD in, "next" x4, system restart and done. Updating the driver to the latest version off the Razer website also as easy. I've not tried the on-the-fly change DPI on the mouse itself yet though. Just set it at 1000MHz and 1800 DPI and left it at that.
My first gaming mouse, so bear with me. I love the oversized front two buttons. I can rest my fingers and click away. Light press needed, yet you won't accidentally press a button. Scroll wheel very smooth with quite an easy press. I tried a G5 in a store (unplugged) and the scroll wheel press on that required too much force to press for my liking. DeathAdder for right handers only! Sorry southpaws (unless you happen to be able to use right handed mice!). 2 thumb buttons on left of mouse brilliantly positioned. Top of thumb rests on forward button and bottom of thumb on the 2nd button. I like how I can rest my hand and can press any button, without having to "grip" or change my hand shape (if you can understand that!). Plays fantastically in my new copy of F.E.A.R. No overshot; cross-hair goes where I tell it to go
Same price as the Logitech G5, G7 and MX518 as well as the Razer CopperHead here in the UK, so I consider it worth the money
