I mean if I buy a gaming headset, can I use that to listen to music on my mp3 player as well, and vice versa?

If it connects via 3.5mm headphone/mic plugs, then yes, you can use it with any MP3 player with a standard jack. If it connects via USB, then no, you're pretty much limited to using it with a computer.

I see so what advantage does a Gaming headset have over a Sennheiser headphone?

It would really depend on the models in question, what you are using it for and where you are using it.

For music and gaming, but I guess for the same thing since I need a good headphone for my laptop.

Headsets have microphones built-in, which is useful if you do any voice communication in your games. If you're looking for a good headset on a budget, check out the Plantronics GameCom 377. It's got great sound quality for its price, and music sounds good too. Mic quality is good as well.

Haha, my voice tends to go deeper when I talk on the phone or on a headset (practically whenever I'm taking to an inanimate object to communicate with an animate object :p)

Well for me, I have an AKG headphones and I use that for music and gaming. I also have the old Logitech headset for PS2 (bought it when SOCOM2 came out... well that was ages ago, well not rly :p) and I use that whenever I need to talk.

I prefer having separate channels for voice and gameplay sound. And since the logitect headset only have one speaker for one ear. It can be achieved. As well as the USB connection for the headset too.

Honestly, a good pair of headphones + a clip on mic will blow away the sound quality of almost any gaming headset.

Clip-on mics suck. I've never heard one that sounded tolerable, let alone anywhere near as good as even the cheapest dedicated headset mic.

I think I'll just stick to a normal headphone.

Can you guys tell me if a headset or a normal headphone is better for your ears when it come to loud explosion in game?

Neither one is inherently good or bad; it just depends on how loud it is.

There's really not much difference between a headphone and headset. A headset is basically a headphone with a microphone attached.

Mainly depends on the quality of the drivers in them. Each headphone has its own sound signature.

Headphones usually have better sound quality than headsets. Whats your budget?

$0 to $100 or $150. I really don't have a budget but I only buy it if it worth the money. If it a $20 headphone and it good, then I'll take it, If it $100 it has to be the best of that bunch.

I'm using the klipsch image s4i and love it. Great sound quality and fair price. It's mainly used for music listening and call making with iphone, also works fantastic with my laptop.
