I really have no ideea where i should've posted this, so here goes:
Is there anyway i can close the laptop (case, bag way) and still let it running normally instead of hibernating?
I want to leave it downloading something but closed, without consuming to much energy cause it takes arround 18 hours or more maybe (a 30gb pack).

You can lock the screen. Because I think it is the screen which consumes so much power. In this way you can also download your stuff without hibernating PC.

moral hazard Notebook Nobel Laureate
yes you can.
Go to power properties>advanced
then change "when I close the lid of my portable computer" to "do nothing".
that is how to do it in xp, probably simmilar in vista.
But your notebook could overheat in the bag. Also you may cause damage to the HDD when you move the bag. -
Setting it to do nothing when you close the screen will work. Dont leave your computer on while you carry it in a bag. The hard disk will be fine in most cases but the heat can be a problem.
I think you need to find a different solution. Look into download managers which can resume downloads (if its http download) or maybe find a torrent so that you can pause the download and dont have to start over. -
Yes its a torrent download, but i dont want to stay 1 week to get some files, my net speed is not one of the best. No worrys about carrying it in a bag or overheating, i always keep it on my wooden desk with a support table with 2 extra coolers, so im gonna leave it whole day long to download, i just didnt want to consume to much energy during the night while im sleeping, and i asked in generally cause im downloading such packs pretty often and i wanted to know for the future as well. Thanks for the answers it helped me and now i can close the lid without any problems.

My roomate before likes to download a lot of movies in torrent.
He would download all day and week long non stop. What he normally do is just put the lid down (but not totally close) until the display was off.
As the first comment said, display consumes a lot of power. -
If you set it to "do nothing" on lid close, the display will turn off, but the computer will continue to function otherwise. No need to partially close it.

Yeah just set the option to "do nothing" on the closed lid.
Then close the lid and let your computer work. Problem solved.
is there any way?
