when i plug in my flash drive it should light up and connect, but it doesnt and i cannot seem to get any data off of it. I really dont know what to do to get anything off of it... Is it just dead and all the info is lost? or is there some way to get it off of there?

It isnt extremely important data, but it would save me a few hours because i have some vista validation thing on it and it would save me from having to use the recovery disk again if i could have that file. (if i ever want to install vista again.)

no it wont. usually if the flash drive is no longer being detected by your computer then it is probably dead. Try booting into bios with the drive connected to see if it can even detect the device.

Hmmm... try to plug the flash driver to another USB or, another computer. Sometimes, it helps.

I think it got corrupted beyond recognition. I've had that happen to my SD card. Computer won't recognize it, camera can't format it.

Kick the habit of letting things accumulate on flash drive. Dump anything important from it onto HDD and CD/DVD as soon as you can.
